How do you tell the difference?? I am 10 months off BCP, and still not regular (only 3 periods). Have had blood work all normal, but I'm wondering how you tell the difference?
thanks!

What did your dr. say when you got the blood work done?

"Ew. I've read all of two posts from you, and you stink like rotting garbage."
I don't think it takes 10+ months to regulate off BCP. I've been told as little as one month and as long as three. If I'd only had 3 periods in 10 months I would be talking to my doctor about more testing in the next few months.

It took my sister 14 months. From month 15 on she was and is as regular as they come. It happens.

Thanks for the responses. The blood work was all of my hormone levels.
I think the only other symptom I hvae is acne (have had since the age of 12)
I've heard conflicting info, that it should regulate within a few months, and some say up to 2 yrs!
I don't know if i am just being paranoid or if I should be concerned...
I have acne, am fat, and infertile. One might take from that that I have PCOS. I don't.
One of my good friends? Perfect skin, perfectly thing, and has two kids conceived with no issues. She has PCOS.

I was dx with PCOS based on my b/w and cycle history. When I am not on birth control I get my period maybe 4 times a year, because I don't ovulate regularly. I have been off birth control since April and ovulated once on my own in May.
For my b/w-my testosterone levels were slightly elevated and I am slightly insulin resistant.
My doctor also took in to consideration that I have been properly dieting for several months and have not successfully lost weight.
You should have a vaginal ultrasound done. I have PCOS and no other symptoms (besides the irregular periods and not ovulating) and my blood work was all normal.

I would ask for a pelvic ultra sound. I also have irregular cycles and I did not think I was ovulating like ever so I went to the gyn after 5 months of trying and got all the blood work done and then went back just this week (6 months trying) and had a pelvic ultra sound done. Come to find out I have PCOS..... I have the typical "string of pearls" on my ovaries..

what b/w was taken? Have you had a pelvic ultrasound? Are you having any other symptoms of PCOS, besides irregular cycles?
There are a lot of different symptoms of PCOS, so it is possible to be diagnosed by b/w or just having multiple cysts on your ovaries.
