moby users come in

I'm thinking of getting one for LO. I have a carrier, a cheap knock off of a bjorn, but LO legs look so uncomfortable after a while. The moby has lots of holds including ones where his legs won't dangle. What do you ladies think, is it worth it? Can you use it to get things done around the house? Do you use it shopping? Is it a pain to get on and off? My son is 12.5 lbs, will my back be killing me?

Re: moby users come in

  • i love mine.  I borrowed it from a friend after seeing her use it.

it is wonderful especially with having an older child.  I can carry her, and still hold my sons hand, play with him, etc..

I have not used it around the house but since she is so colicky I think I am going to start.  I am hoping to get some cleaning done and carry her at the same time.

Your back will not hurt.  I have a horrible back, herniated discs.  My back does not hurt carrying her.  She is only a bit lighter, 10.5 lbs or so.

  • I love it and think it's totally worth it. I use it to do dishes, grocery shop, vacuum, or even to bump. Lol. It's the perfect answer when Cady doesn't want to be put down. It's a little hard at first to get the wrap down, but once you get it, it's second nature. Sort of like swaddling. Your back won't kill you, the wrap is done so that there is a lot of support.

If you want to try it out before actually purchasing it, you can use a sheet as well, although I prefer the actual wrap. If you google how to do it with a sheet, you'll get some hits. I also think J+MS on here has a link to a Nerbown FAQs and I think she has a How To linky on there.

This is my siggy. Love it.

  • My baby is only 9 lbs so far but my back does not hurt unless we go out for a long time. I really like it cause she won't let me put her down for a minute so she lives it. If I know I'm going to wear her, I put it on before leaving the house so it won't drag on the floor in the parking lot. Once you get the hang of it, it's easy. In my opinion it is well worth it.
  • it's kinda hard to get stuff done around the house for me. i'm always afraid of bumping LO on counters and stuff when i'm cooking and doing dishes. carrying clothes baskets up and down stairs is harder too. Shopping is fine as long as you don't have to try anything on, so it's great for trips to the grocery store or to the mall when i'm not buying stuff for myself. LO is about 9 pounds right now and he doesn't hurt my back at all when he's in the wrap. you just have to make sure the cloth is spread out on your back instead of bunched together since that's what helps to distribute the weight. i got my wrap from a kids consignment shop for $15 so you might want to see if you could get one that way if you're trying to save $. it's just a piece of fabric so you can throw it right in the wash.

  • Love the moby! Its intimidating at first, but after a little practice its super easy to use! LO is always so comfortable in it :) I think its worth the buy for sure, although after seeing what it is... I'm sure it would be super easy and cheaper to make one. So, if I want other designs, I will definitely be making my own.
  • I go back and forth on the moby.  It took a couple of tries to get it right but it's pretty easy now, also took a couple of tries before LO liked it and she does love it.  The main problem I have with it is that all that fabric plus baby makes me and baby so hot!  I live in a warm climate though.  LO definitely likes the snuggliness more than the bjorn, but I end up using the bjorn more because of temperature.
  • I am still getting comfy with mine, I just don't always feel like he is secure, but he's so tiny, so I think that is why. I do like it and it doesn't hurt my back, but he's not even 7 pounds yet, so I can't speak for when he gets bigger.

  • I love it. I'm borrowing my friends. She actually didn't buy hers, but made it instead from instructions she found online. It works perfectly and once you find the right fabric would be very easy to make since it's just a straight piece of fabric.

  • to be honest, i don't like it.  the wraps are difficult to get right for me -- i always feel like she's either too tight or too loose.
