TTC after 35

Using BBT for charting - trouble

So I recently decided to purchase a thermometer to attempt to chart my BBT and couldn't find one specifically for that purpose so I picked up a vicks one from the super market.  Problem is I don't think it's all that accurate?  One morning I took my temp about 5 times and got a variance of almost a whole degree!  I'm trying not to move or do anything that would affect my temp.

Do I need to purchase a special one online for this?

Re: Using BBT for charting - trouble

  • I got mine at Target. It is pink and says it is a basal thermometer. It was with the thermomethers and about $10.

  • Oddly I couldnt find one at Target. I found mine online. But I think the Walmart (but I dont think they have a walmart in Boulder :). Walgreens might be a good source too.

  • I'd avoid the Walgreens one.  I have it and have had some issues with it so I looked around online and it seems that others have too; it tends to "batch" temperatures together under its seemingly favorite numbers so your temp is always (for example) 97.04, 97.18, 97.36 -- but never, say, 97.05, 97.19, 97.35.  It's kind of strange.  Of course I haven't tried any other BBTs so for all I know they all do this, but I'm planning on picking up a non-Walgreens one if I go back to temping.
