Ok, so we're going on week 4 of this non-drinking BM while at daycare. For a quick refresh, she will dehydrate herself all day, eating only table foods and drink NOTHING from a sippy, bottle, hot/cold, before meals, during meals, after meals, standing on her head
, etc. I am at my wits end. I've talked with the pedi again and again but since she's growing just fine, they seem to think that this is just her normal from now on in. Just got off the phone with daycare as she hasn't urinated all day and drank only an ounce of water so far. Eating fine, acting fine but just won't drink. Called the pedi and waiting for the doc to call me back since I spoke to one of the nurses. She mentioned we may be headed to the ER for fluids.
So basically she nurses anywhere between 2 and 4 times in 24 hours. Now she's waking through the night to nurse since she's not drinking all day. Is this...separation anxiety? Reverse cycling? Normal strong-willedness at 9.5 months? Preference and comfort for mommy only? Potential ear infection? Can someone please tell me that their child does or did this too so I don't lose my mind here...
Re: Update to my 9.5 month old NON-drinker...
Make a pregnancy ticker
it sounds like reverse cycling.
have you tried different bottles? What about the Adri (I think) nurser bottle?
If she is acting fine, then she is not dehydrated. Signs of dehydration are no wet diapers in a 12 hr period, acting lethargic, sunken in soft spot, etc. No advice on how to get her to drink, but I wouldn't take her to the ER unless she was showing any of the signs mentioned above.
