My son (22 months) currently sleeps in a crib. I want to move my other son (4 months) into the room now that he has been sleeping through the night for a while. I am getting my convertible crib delivered next week. I am wondering if I should have it assembled as a toddler bed and put my 22 month old in it or stick with 2 cribs. My husband is mechanically challenged so it would be nice to have someone handy put the toddler bed together but I am not sure if my older son will continue to get out of the toddler bed and "share" his stuffed animals with his baby brother. Any words of wisdom?
Re: Sharing a room and toddler beds
My 2 share a room also, and we have both of them in cribs. Personally, I am trying to keep my DS in his crib for as long as possible. I am afraid that if he were in a bed, he would never sleep - just be up roaming around the room, bothering my DD who is a wonderful sleeper. I am also afraid of the things that you mentioned - trying to share stuffed animals, reaching through the rails and touching DD, etc. I am sure it can be done, but my DS is definitely not mature enough to be in a toddler bed with his baby sister in the same room!
We also use his crib when we need to put him somewhere safe while showering, running out to the car, etc. Until he tries to climb out (and even then we may get a crib tent), he is in his crib! Good luck deciding what to do.
Keep them in a crib as long as they are happy and safe. It's a good place to confine them when you need both hands.
