Our LO is a little over 5 months and she LOVES solids. I started her on carrots and she loved them but I stopped after three feedings because she seemed to get gassy/fussy. Even when I stopped, that bout of gassiness lasted about a week.
*Edited to add - I don't know if the gassiness was related to solids or not. Everly is a pretty gassy girl.
She's lost her tongue thrust reflex and LOVES staring at and reaching for food. She seems ready so I tried again - this time squash. And I fed her less of it.
Well, she ate it all (just 2 teaspoons) and wanted more but I didn't give her any.
Then she took a nap for over an hour (very unusual for her) and she seemed content.
Fast-forward and she's grunting a lot again. Seems a little fussy - nothing horrible, just gassy.
My question is - is this just a normal part of them getting used to solids? Or should I wait a while longer? I'm in no rush, I was mostly doing it just because how much she loves it, but I don't want to cause her unnecessary gas. My mom reminded me that vegetables cause *everyone* gas pretty much and it may be a normal part of feeding solids.
What do you think?
