Butting in... I'd be cautious of the drop-side cribs - I think most of them have been recalled... if that's a concern of yours.
Also, if you're finding used cribs in the $200 range, you might want to check out Walmart's website. I bought the Graco Sarah for $139 with $0.97 shipping (the matching changing table is $89). If you went with the white version, the crib and changing table bundle is only $176 total.
Butting out...
Was just throwing some ideas out there.....take it or leave it. We have a drop side and it wasnt recalled! But we dont drop it down anymore!!!
Brenda is right on both counts on recalls and price. We got a Lauren Graco and bought it at target for $129.
Yep - Dropside isn't an option for us :-)
FWIW, I was all excited about the Ikea cribs, but they were pretty low to the ground when we saw them in person. We also have the Graco Sarah, and they now make it stationary.
stupid ? - but why does that matter?
I almost bought a lower-to-the-ground crib, but I really want our crib skirt to be seen. :-)
The only issue I can think of would that it'd be harder to reach the baby if it was lower to the ground. Even on the highest mattress setting, I had a hard time reaching Paige after my c-section.
Um, there's nothing wrong with pointing out that there is a known safety issue with dropside cribs. Anyone is welcome to offer suggestions on any topic, but when it comes to child safety it's always worth discounting someone's idea.
It wasn't personal.
The new crib will be for Andrew - so I'm not really concerned about having to bend low. Also, he won't be in it for that long and I probably won't even bother with a skirt :-)
Thanks for trying to help, I appreciate it. My answers were short because I'm tired and I've had my hands full.
p.s. I'm obsessed with the green ikea crib :-)
Umm, because you have to bend over farther to pick up a baby or kid? :-) I didn't want to bend over that much.
I think she's hurt because she was just trying to help, but no one even acknowledged that fact.
Fair enough - but then again, I don't remember other posts where someone's suggestion got thanks and praise.
Whatevs, it's not a big deal.
Actually alot of other posts get thanks but it seems to me everytime I bring up an idea I get shot down. It's fine...happy thursday! I'm still trying to look into the whole drop side crib recall - I remember when it came out that ours wasnt on the list and now my mind is failing me!!! grr.....
I'm sorry you feel that way. I'm positive that it's nothing personal!
Here's a link about drop-side cribs from the CPSC. It states,
I don't have to bend over to pick up Andrew :-)
I'm sorry I didn't mean to not thank you - when I read this post Andrew was sobbing, then puking his guts out, I felt like I was going to puke my guts out - - I didn't mean anything by it.
Again - thanks for thinking of me.
Thanks for the link...I'll have to look into it again
!!!
No worries Kathy it was more of several other people getting on me for even making a suggestion!!
