3rd Trimester

Miss Piper has arrived! (Long) and PIP

Hello ladies! Thank you all so much for the warm wishes on Monday.

I'm going to start from the VERY beginning of labor.

Since Friday night I had been having irregular contractions for several hours at a time. On Sunday night I went on a long walk, clean the house top to bottom, and bounced on my yoga ball. I went to bed sometime around midnight and I had a dream that I was cracking eggs in the kitchen and one of the eggs was my bag of water, and when I cracked the egg my water was broken...This woke me up and I went to check my panties, and nothing...About two hours later I woke up to pretty intense contractions but really irregular still so I went back to bed. I woke up in the morning and my underwear was slightly more wet then I am used to but, I had a doctor's appointment at 3:30pm so decided to get hang out until then. At my appointment I mentioned to my doctor about the extra wetness, and he said he would check to see if it was AF. He did the little PH strip and set it on the counter for it to process. Then he decided to strip my membranes, and after about 2 minutes of this the nurse picked up the PH strip and started to say that it has turned blue when GUSH! My water officially broke, all over my doctor. I immediately started crying and honestly don't know why. DH says that I kept apologizing, though I don't remember saying anything. I'm not going to sugar coat anything...it was A TON of fluid and it DID NOT STOP. I had to put my jeans back on the walk out of the office and all I kept saying on the way to L&D was "Bredin, this is so gross! Bredin, this is so gross"

So we got to the hospital and they had a room ready for us. We went in got settled and had a friend bring us everything we needed. Advice: If you have a feeling you should put your bags in the car, do it. For some reason I wanted to pack the car before we left, but didn't want to psych myself out. Anyway.....Contractions started to regulate very quickly at 3-4 mins apart. With in two hours I was having to breath through them so they came in to check me. I was 4 cm and 100% (had been 2cm at 3:30) They told me I was doing well, and they would check me in about 3 hours. I planned for a med-free birth so I was concentrating on breathing and before I knew it they were back to check me. This was around 10pm. I was still only at a 4. They put in an internal contraction monitor to measure the strength of my contractions and said they'd be back around midnight. At midnight, even though I was having very "productive" strong contractions, I was still at a 4. So doc wanted to start pitocin, and I refused. They came back around 5am, still a four, and they gave me the option of pitocin or c-section, so I chose the pit.

This is when things got extreme... I was shaking, throwing up, my face swelled up so much I was not able to see. They basically insisted I get the epi b/c they needed me to sleep. At this point, I was so overwhelmed that I said yes. I cried my eyes out the whole way through, it took them 5 attempts to get it in the right place, all while I was puking, contracting...It was awful. With in about 20 mins I was able to fall asleep, and they kicked the pitocin up from a 4 to a 12. I woke up around 10am for a check and I was still only 4cm. They had to turn to pitocin off for a while b/c Piper's heart rate was  dropping b/w contractions, and they put me on oxygen. At around 2pm and after several checks they told me that they were bringing me in for a section.

I can't explain to you how upset I was, I had been through so much labor, and not progress, I was so frustrated with my body for not doing what it was supposed to do.

They got the section started at around 5:00, and miss Piper Claire was born at 5:38pm. So let out one BIG yell, came over to say hello, and then she snuggled up with Daddy and whimpered her way to the nursery. The rest of the C-section was so long, I never expected it to be sooo long. I was scared, alone, freezing and so confused. All I kept thinking about was her little nose, her little nose....

About 7pm they got me into the recovery room where I got to see that little nose, and hold and kiss and love on her. She is the most patient baby, and is so perfect! We are all recovering well, and will be heading home on Friday!!!!

Thanks for reading, sorry its so long....and with out further ado....

I feel good, as long as I'm chilling in bed. They make you get up and walk every so often and that TOTALLY sucks! It feels like my stomach is ripping in half!

but.... I finally get to take a shower in about ten minutes and I'm really excited! I can't even imagine what I smell like right now...

I think Hyfa was trying to see if you have any extra Percocet that you could "loan" to her.

Cruel I was working my magic and then you come raging in and blow my cover. I mean this in the best way possible, but do it again and I'll stab your jugular.
