Not that it makes any kind of difference because this was 2 months ago, I just thought I would ask and see what everyone else thought.
I took this test at 7 DPO in Oct (the cycle after my other CP and surgery). I thought I saw something right away and even went and took it to DH to ask if he could see it. Here is the test:
(I know it's huge but the line is pretty faint...but I'm not the only one who sees something, right?)
This is several days later when it showed up much better. Now, I know you're not supposed to look at them past like 10 minutes, but again, I thought there was something there initially, but you can see it more after it dried. There was a line just like this on the 9DPO one too.
I'm a POASaholic, so I've seen a lot of negative tests of this same brand, and I've never ever gotten evap lines.
Has anyone gotten evap lines this dark on pink dye tests?
NOT looking for a pity party, just wondering if anyone else thinks it's possible to get a + test that soon and then start relatively on time. I had a random day of spotting a few days before my period came too, which I don't normally have. It's just been bugging me that I didn't ask about it before.
*everyone at the Fertility Happy Hour several months ago, this was the test I was talking about when I said I had taken one and I thought I could see something.

I MOST definitely see the line. And what you just described sounded pretty much like what happened to me when I had my CP.
ETA: no, I reread your post and actually that is almost EXACTLY what happened with my CP. Have your cycles been wonky since this faint line? (Though that might not be all that indicative of anything, since IIRC you kinda had wonky cycles anyway, maybe?)
I see the line. I also tend to POAS anytime I'm even remotely late and I've never seen a line (even after the 3 minutes or whatever.)
I don't know if it's possible for it to be a true + at that time. I'm thinking maybe if you have a really short cycle. It still takes time for the implantation and hormones and all that jazz. However, I'm not a doctor nor do I claim to be an expert on that so just take it as a bystanders opinion.
Either way, I bet that it would be tough to see a line then not...so I'm sorry that happened whatever the reason may be.
My cycles were long and irregular to begin with and I didn't O until CD 24 that cycle. My LP is also a steady 12 days, and this one was 13, which I thought was weird, too. I don't really know how they've been since then b/c I started meds the next cycle after this one.
It's just been in the back of my head saying "Hmmm, that was weird, maybe...." ya know?
I've taken like a bajallion pregnancy tests of all types, and there is definitely a line.
For my IVF cycle, I got a positive test starting 8 days post-retrieval (which is the same as ovulation day). That was 10 days post HCG trigger shot (so HCG shot was more than likely out of my system), and the line continued to get darker. So...I think it is totally possible to get a very early positive test.
I would vote for you had a chemical pregnancy that ended very early--one of those pregnancies where you would never have known you were pregnant if you didn't test.
The lap is supposed to help with fertility. The first time I got pregnant (but later miscarried) was the first cycle after Lap #2.
I'm sorry that cycle did not end in a ongoing pregnancy.
It really sucks. As soon as you see the line, you start thinking, dreaming, and making plans.
I hope that you get a non-chemical pregnancy for Christmas.
I was hoping you would respond, and this kinda confirms what's been nagging me for a while now.
UGH.
Do you think this is something I should bring up at my U/S next week?

I have to tell you bride that the EXACT same thing happened to me this past October too. I took several tests and the same thing with the super faint line--on all but the digital one I took the morning I got my period. My husband thought I was crazy. I deleted the photos because we weren't pregnant. I didn't even know until this post that chemical pregnancy was a thing. I also was relatively on time...although my period has been wonky lately--ranging from 25 days to 30+days, so relative is a relative term.
And my evap lines were that dark too. I think we lived the same thing around the same time...
See, I'm torn about the shot. I did it last cycle b/c I was leaving town right around when I would O and we wanted to make sure that we got our timing right, so I went ahead and did the shot last cycle. But I was kinda hoping not to do it this time. The shot itself wasn't bad, but my ass was so sore for a week and I couldn't even lay down on that side. Casey said it looked like the egg was about to release anyway, so I was pretty confident that I would have Oed on my own anyway. Do you think I should still do the shot? I have a appt with jackie on Wednesday and I've never seen her before, so I'll ask her then, but Casey said Dr S really recommends it with Femara. I was hoping to do this as naturally as possible...
I love Jaki! She is really great. If I was in your shoes I would do the shot. You really don't want that egg to sit around once it is mature. You really want it to release on time in order for it to be the best quality it can. I get what you are saying about preferring not to do the shot. I just know I would personally feel like if I was going to take the Femara, have the monitoring, put all the time and money into it, etc. then I would want to give it the very best chance. Definitely a very personal decision, though! That would just be my thinking.

I totally get that, and I definitely want to make the best of these cycles. It just freaking hurt! And I don't even want to know how much it cost, haven't gotten that bill yet.
And I also like to test early. OBVIOUSLY. LOL
Can they do it in a place other than your hip/butt? It just really hurt to lay down, even flat.

Sorry I took a while to check back on this thread--DD goes to bed late and I had to eat dinner.
As for the bill--the HCG shot + admin fee was less than $100. I don't remember the cost of the ultrasound, but ask for a discount if your insurance won't cover it. Your insurance gets a large discount on the negotiated rate, and it can't hurt to ask if you can pay a bit less. I'll see if I can look at my old EOBs and tell you what the trigger shot and ultrasounds were charged at.
IM injections can be given in the thigh (vastus lateralis). However, it is supposed to hurt more than in the hip (gluteal). I gave PIO to myself mostly in my thigh and had all but one trigger shot given in the thigh (or I gave it to myself in the thigh). This was at my request as the vastus lateralis is a safer location for IM injections than the gluteal area. There is less risk of a sciatic nerve injury. It's also a lot easier to inject yourself in the thigh than the hip.
I love Jaki. She's actually my favorite of Kelly/Casey/Jaki. I like Kelly and Casey too--I just would pick Jaki as my first choice.
As for trigger shot/no trigger shot, I would go ahead and do it. Trigger shots are so cheap compared to the higher end stuff. If your finances are limited, I would be as aggressive as possible while sticking to less expensive treatments.
The clock is ticking, so to speak, after a lap. Dr. S told me that your fertility is most improved for 6 months following. If you go on to injectables, they get EXTREMELY expensive (like $1400 plus just for the medication for one cycle). Injectibles also require more ultrasounds than Femara (at least 2 to 3). That also increases the price of a cycle.
Let me look at EOBs and see what I can find out. The billing is quite slow.
Okay, prices--
Transvaginal ultrasound has a sticker price of $225.
Office visit--$90 (but they don't always charge for the office visit--sometimes they just charge for the ultrasound).
HCG shot--$75 for the medicine+$25 for the administration of the shot.
So, the cost for one ultrasound + HCG trigger shot given at the office + office visit would be $415. Insurance negotiated rates are less than half that, so call and ask if you can get a cash discount. The worst they can do is say no.
I SPH j a k i - she's my fav - I've seen c a s e y once and she was nice, but J is super positive and just really nice.
if it makes you feel any better, I did the exact same combo as you a few times and look where we are now.
I say try it for another couple of cycles and see where it goes. I had the trigger in my love handles - was that where you got it? I don't remember being really sore though. and maybe C isn't as "gentle" as J.
I don't remember exactly how much we paid, but I've never received a bill for >$200 - even though those bills aren't great, I know it can be MUCH worse.
GL!
Count me in with the others who think you should be as aggressive as possible. If you really love to test early, I would "test out" the trigger shot. Just take a test every day until you get a negative and then you know it's out of your system. I also love Jaki.
I do see a line on your test, but I would have thought it was just an evap line. I seem to remember getting those a few times and assuming they were negative. Maybe not.
I wouldn't worry about injectables yet, there are a lot of things you can try first, but just for a comparison. We were spending about $1000 out of pocket a month when we were doing injectables plus IUI and my insurance covered all of the monitoring appts and ultrasounds which was good because I think I had 4 or 5 each cycle. I'm a late/ poor responder though. You can order crappier versions of gonal F from Europe which is what we did and it's much cheaper. It's harder to use, but much cheaper. Inevitably, Dr S would have me order say 30 vials and it would be around $400. Then I would have to buy 2 or 3 more locally because I would run out and it would be around $200 or $300 just for those 2 or 3 vials. Then it was $250 for the IUI which we paid out of pocket because I didn't want my insurance to catch on to what we were doing. The cycle we finally got pg, I made him let me order 40 vials and that's exactly how many we needed.
Don't worry, you won't get to this point. Hopefully this is your cycle!
I actually had that happen the cycle before each of my successful pregnancies -- it's the main reason I had to have early ultrasounds with both girls because the doctors feared my dates might have been off. Apparently my body needs a "practice pregnancy" or something!
I've never really considered them miscarriages because they were so incredibly early, but it has made me never utter the words "a line is a line - you're pregnant" since I had lines, twice, that turned to periods just a day later.
Can't help with all the other info - just thought I'd share a been there, done that...

Sorry I'm late back to this, work exploded all over me last night...
I'm super sorry it happened, J.
It sucks. I had the nagging feeling that that's what happened to me too, and didn't really give it much serious thought until I saw my doc and she confirmed that that was what probably happened. They told me not to worry for future pregnancies, since apparently CPs are pretty common (??who knew?), so I doubt that they'll tell you to do anything different because of it. But even though it shouldn't affect things going forward, I'd still mention it to your doc. It may be different for you because of the meds and such - I haven't had experience with that part so I can't say. But mention it anyway and talk with Dr. S (thats who you see, right?) about it, because for me, the CP and the REALLY effed up cycles I had following it got me some nice, early attention and a couple of extra u/s once I was pg with Annabelle, just to make sure everything was A-ok. I know Dr. S and staff are really proactive with that kind of stuff so it's worth talking it over with them.
Good luck going forward. I'm really sorry that this happened. ((Hugs!))
