Orchid doesn't talk to anyone

she will babble to herself sometimes, or occasionally speak to Summer, but 99% of the time she will not speak to others. She understands everything, even directions (grab that cup over there on the table and give it to daddy" etc). Anyone else's LO not interested in communicating at 18 months?

    my great niece, now 4, didn't start speaking until the day after her 2nd bday party- and let me tell you, she speaks better than some grown adults i know!

    Margaux babbles at others, no help here...  Does she communicate in other ways, like eye contact, reaching, pointing, giving people things?

    Do you think the move, all the changes and the recent stress has her a little unsettled?

    Does she flirt w/not scary people who are at a safe distance (in her opinion) like at the store, etc.?

    Oh she is queen of the show wherever we go! She puts on the sweet adorable look-at-me! smile and wave and dance act and has everyone melting. I am not concerned that much. I just wondered if anyone else's LO was quirky this way.

    SmileOh, good! Sometimes Maddie can be shy, but she manages to do it in a flirty way and does speak/sign/make faces to people.

    M's a chatterbox, and a very social one at that, but mostly uses grunting to get his point across. He occasionally uses words, but still mostly grunts.

    Ada a gets shy with people - even Tim and I sometimes. Apparently, it isn't abnormal for them to not be super social.

    We had Ada's 18 month group pedi visit today. Some of those kids are hailing cabs and reciting Yeats already. Ada has no words yet. Pedi was non-plussed and said to call her in March if that still carried on.

    Callie is the opposite she speaks to the wall. My oldest daghter is 21 and was very quiet, in nursery school they even asked me if something was wrong with her???She is graduating college with honors in the spring and has great social skills. I would not worry about it yet
