kids consignment...

I went to my first childrens consignment shop today, kidz exchange, in pines, and they dont pay up front.  They wanted me to sign a contract saying that I would receive a 60/40 portion of the stuff I bring in, as it sells, not to mention the fact that I have to bring it in ironed and on hangers too =/  After all that work, to only get a little bit of money after a several months months (or however long it takes to sell all my stuff), doesn't seem worth it to me... so I guess I am asking, what are my other options?  Is there any place that pays up front like platos closet?  HELP!

Re: kids consignment...

  • Yeah, that is pretty much how consignment stores work.  Other options: garage sales, craigslist, post on FB and here for other mommies that may be interested.  GL

  • I gave my stuff to Do Overz in Davie/Cooper City and it works the same way. They mail me a check as my stuff sells. If it doesnt sell after 6 months I can either donate it to a womens shelter or pick it back up, I opted for it to go to a shelter.

  • Look up South FL Kids Consigment.  It's a 3 day giant consignment sale and I did really well with it.  They just had one in Broward, next is Palm Beach, I'm not sure when they plan to head south.  They still took a cut and donated any leftover items but I sold most everything!

There will be one opening in Miami soon. When I lived in Colorado, you brought your stuff in and they told you up front like platos closet what they would give you. This is my favorite store and I am so glad one is opening soon!
