s/o dinner time ...

What time do you typically eat dinner?

I feel like we might eat early compared to most ... (usually between 5 and 5:30)  anything after that and DD gets super antsy.

  • Hey Batty! I love E's pigtails in your sig. Precious!

We eat around 5:30 too. DH gets home around 4:45-5:00. I agree, LO would be a mess if we didn't eat until 6:30. He is getting ready for bed by that time.

    Hey!

    Thanks :)

Yeah, most nights we eat closer to 5 ...

  • We don;t eat until like 8. But we're a family on a later schedule than most as DH works later most nights. But that's all changing come next week, because Basil starts preschool on the 13th, I start school on January 3rd, and DH's schedule is going back(finally!!!) to 8am-4pm.

So after this big shift, we'll probably eat by like 6:30 so Basil can be in bed by 8:30 or 9. She goes to bed at like 10-10:30 now, otherwise she wouldn't get to see DH at all three days or more per week.

  • Any time between 6 and 8.  No real routine because my work schedule varies day to day (I work in retail) and DH molds his schedule to mine, so every day is different.  If the kids start to get hungry before dinner's ready we'll throw some frozen veggies in the microwave and they eat that to hold them over and then we don't worry if they don't eat whatever veggie I'm serving as part of the meal.

No snark intended at all - but what do you mean preschool? Do you mean day care? I have never heard of a preschool for a 16 month old.

  • DH doesn't get home until 6:30-7, so right now, I feed Jack around 5:30 because his bedtime is at 7:30 and that's not enough time for the 3 of us to eat and do the bedtime routine.  Also, by 7, he's usually just done for the day.

We put  him to bed, and then we eat between 7:45-8:30.  We usually stay up late most nights, (midnight.)

    Edited to fix an error.

  • Usually around 6:30pm.
  • Sometime between 6 and 7.  Jackson naps until at least 5-5:30, so eating earlier than that is unrealistic for us.

  • DS and I eat around 5:30pm, and if DH is home from work by then he joins us for dinner.  Most days, DH doesn't make it home though, so he reheats dinner and eats on his own.  I don't push dinner any later because it would mess with DS's bedtime routine.

  • Depends when DH gets home.  G eats anywhere from 5 to 6pm.  6pm or even a bit later is usually when DH gets home.  Most times she cannot make it until that late so she eats at 5:30 or earlier. She sometimes then sits and watches us while we eat or runs around the house picking up all her toys and bringing them to us.
