Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

if you travel far for the holidays..

do you bring or ship LOs gifts, do them on another day at home when you get back, or not really do much in terms of wrapping a lot of gifts?

just curious. I feel badly b/c we have just sort of given them their gifts recently as they came in b/c I didnt want to have to travel/ship them just to bring them home again. So i'm bringing mostly small stocking stuffer type things. i figure they're only 17 months at xmas & won't know what is going on & will be getting a ton of stuff from grandparents & 6 sets of aunts/uncles plus a few others.

thoughts?

  • We are taking one nice sized toy and his stocking stuff.  That is it.  We are opening the rest the weekend before Christmas.  Defiantly don't want to bring them all up there and back again.

  • I ordered her gifts online and had them sent to the house we'll be staying at. We're driving this year, and will have space to bring them home. None of them are huge. If we were flying, I would pay to ship them back.

  • we're going to canada so, rather than having to declare everything at customs I was considering giving him the big presents here the week before and then shipping some small things from santa directly to my in-law's place along with their gifts. I'll tell them that I'm sending a package from amazon and not to open it and then I'll just wrap them when I get there.

but then we have to bring them home... *sigh*  I hate traveling over the holidays.
