Two Under 2

A few Questions for you pros out there

1.  How do you and DH find the time and energy for sexy time?  We were doing ok for a bit and now we've hit a snag.  Last night I passed out while waiting for him to take a shower and every other night this week I've just been SO exhausted.  Should we try to have one dedicated night/schedule it for a bit to ensure we stay connected?

2. Do you stay inside a lot during the colder months?  I'm feeling like a hermit as we haven't been out in a couple of days but its just so cold here (under 20 degrees) I feel like it's bad taking the girls out, not to mention a PIA to warm up the car and load them in.  Is it more beneficial to get them out of the house or just stay in when we have the option?

3.  What are your experiences with Strep?  DS had it last week and DD1 had already been on Amoxicillan for an ear infection, and hadn't had any symptoms when we took the girls in for their checkup on Friday.  Shes been extra crabby the last two days now though and I can tell something is bothering her. NO fever though. Should I take her back in?  I'm sick of Dr visits and bills!  :(  Dr. didn't seem concerned with the girls getting it and also the nurse told us its' very rare for children under 3 to get, although I have a friend with 2u2 whos girls have had it several times.  UGH.  Do your children always get sick from eachother?

Re: A few Questions for you pros out there

  • I'm definitely not a pro (#3 isdue to arrive by the end of the month ;) but I've been around the block afewtimes ;) LOL.

#1. For sexy time: it was easier while not pregnant. We would do it whenever we could. Literally. Kids are napping? OK, go! Kids are watching Wonder Pets in the living room and doors are locked and everything is picked up? OK, go! LOL. Not kidding. We just did it (in our room of course). Whenever. We still do. Just not as often right now!

#2. As for the colder months, we attend 2 playgroups a week year round and gymastics 1-2 times a week during the school year. Library is definitely hit or miss.

Our weather is COLD here too - northern MI; where are you in WI? I'm lucky though, I park in the garage and am able to get the kids loaded inside.

As for going outside. NOPE. Won't do it. Especially after #3 is here. I also hate the cold. DH is in charge of that when he gets home andI get 30 minutes alone. If I weren't pg I would take them outside (I did it with DS last year while #2 was sleeping) but I'm just not up for it right now.

#3. No experience with Strep. Sorry....

First and foremost, let me state that I don't consider myself a pro by any means, but I hope to be on my way :)

Honestly, for me, it's been a huge transition.  There is a big difference between frequency before DS and now, post-DD.  I am tired a lot, but I am learning that DH and I get along better with a much smaller chance of turbulence if we do fit in some sexy time.  We have to be creative since there's often a child asleep in our room :)  IMO, staying connected has become increasingly important over the last 2 years for us.

We live somewhere that is pretty cold/rainy year-round.  We do spend a lot of time indoors.  We get out when it's nice, but we have fun inside when it's not an option.  Everyone's miserable if we go out in the cold/rain.

We don't have any experience with Strep yet, but in our house, usually if one is sick, the other will be soon after.  They share toys and are always in close proximity to one another, so I think it's just par for the course at this point.

  • Not a "pro" but this is how I deal:

    1)  Making sexy time didn't work for us because "planning" made it more of a chore than having fun.. we felt obligated to have sex on those days and it was just bad!  In the end we gave ourselves a "curfew" basically we needed to get stuff done by 10 so we wouldn't be too tired.. if it's not done by 10, then it goes to the next day (extenuating circumstances do happen) and that left us more "opportunities" to be spontaneous!

    2) I hate the cold (I live in NY) so I tend to stay in when it's cold.  I would be happy to never leave my house for the entire winder season.  That being said, I try to get them at least outside a few times a week just because I know fresh air is good for them.  Sometimes its a quick walk, or riding bikes in the driveway for 20 minutes, but it's not everyday.

     3) I haven't had any experience with strep yet.. knock on wood... but YES my kids pass cold to each other all the time, try as I might the cold will go right around the house before it leaves!

    GL!
