Per this thread, we're hoping to condense a lot of the "gawker" threads into one! We thought this would make them more fun to browse and the board an easier read. We'll start a new thread every day to keep the list fresh.
Anyone is welcome to add to the post--local hospital names, the awful name you over heard at the park, Facebook horrors, and anything else that might give us a good chuckle! Feel free to comment, too!

A friend's baby is up for a "Holiday Baby Battle" on a radio station and I saw one of the contestants.

I know one of these. Her mom's name is Salaste (pronounced Celeste). She went to school with me, when the teachers would see her name on the roll they just looked like this:
"For this child I prayed; and the Lord hath given me the petition which I asked of him." 1 Samuel 1:27
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." Jeremiah 1:5
This should be the first and biggest sign that giving your child a particular name is a bad idea. If you have to START OUT telling people how it's pronounced before they've even heard/seen it, much less had a chance to ask how to pronounce it, that's just BAD.
I lurk around, and I had to add mine from the hospital I will be going to. A little girl, named Jaelly.
As soon as I saw it, I said "Jelly?" I can't get over how much that poor little girl will get teased
