feel like Dh's family is always the root of our fights

Im sure Im not the only one... but every fight or disagreement we have always stems from Dh's family. Im sick and tired of it.

This one started with Xmas... Dh has a foster sister who is visiting her dad on xmas so we are doing dinner and gifts on the 18th.Then we go to Xmas eve with his family at his aunts house. Then Xmas morning they come over for breakfast. Then we drive about 1.5 hours to my parents house and grandmothers to spend xmas there.

I dont understand why they need to come over xmas morning... why is there a need to celebrate xmas 3times with them.. While I only get to see my family for 4-5 hours?!? I told DH im not cooking breakfast.. and im not entertaining them... if he wants to thats all on him.. he can do the shopping too... Im not doing it anymore!

I would put my foot down and say, "X-Mas with your family was celebrated on the 18th. The 25th is with my family, it's only fair"

Ugh- if DH and I ever get divorced it will be due to his mother. I tell him frequently that the fact that I don't punch her square in the mouth every other time I see her must show him how much I love him. Under no other circumstances would I have such an over-bearing, rude, disrespectful, psychotically paranoid person around my children.

I would put it all on him as well, and I probably would not be very pleasant while they were there because I would just be too annoyed. I told DH before that his family was going to be the divorce of us. Hope it all works out ok for you, GL.

That sux. Definitely too much of his family during the holidays. Give him a choice....one of the days for his fam, one of the days for yours. Case closed. No need to have people go nuts and stress out over the holidays.

My FI's family is like this too.. We always do christmas eve with them and christmas day with my family, but they always want us to "stop by" on christmas day AGAIN! They irritate me to no end, so I was just straight up and said, "I have a family too. And that is their day with us."
