My 3 year old daughter has been peeing on the potty and staying dry in her underwear for a very long time, but has always been hesitant to go #2 on the potty. We didn't push it and figured she would come around, but she never has and she absolutely refuses to do it on the potty. She doesn't have accidents in her underwear, which I guess is a positive in one sense, but is also very frustrating because when she needs to go she will ask for a diaper. We tried telling her "No, you need to go on the potty" but it results in a major fit. She will not willingly sit on the potty to go #2 and I'm not going to hold her down on the toilet to make her go. I can't imagine that this type of association with pooping on the potty would make things any easier. I just have no idea why she won't go on the potty, and she doesn't care about stickers, treats, etc. She won't talk about it. The pee part of this was actually pretty easy, which has me at a loss for how to overcome this part. Any ideas?
Re: Does anyone have a PT child who won't poo on the potty?
Bar tab = $156,000, Bus to Foxwoods = $0, Puking in the Stanley Cup = Priceless
I think this is very good advice. Be strong Mom!
We kinda had the same issue. The peeing was simple, but he wouldn't poop on the potty. He DID make messes in his pants. One day I eventually caught him mid-poop and sat him on the toilet. After that, he did it on his own!
I would actually encourage you to force her on the potty. If she says she has to go, I'd sit her on the potty until she went. Now that I'm thinking about it, my SIL had this EXACT problem with her daughter and that is what she did as well. Maybe once she sees that she can do it on the potty, she'll be more used to the idea.
