I usually try to feed LO before he goes to daycare. I still BF part time, and like to nurse before I go to work. It really all depends on when he wakes, and if he is hungry.
We used to have daycare do it, but now she eats at 6:30pm and STTN. I think it's too long for her to go until 8:30am when we drop her off, so we feed her when she wakes up. Although she isn't crying for food, she gladly takes it.
DS needs to eat as soon as he wakes up, so I def feed him at least once. If he's eaten really early (like before 5:30) I will try to feed him again before I leave around 7:45, so DC only has to give him three bottles.
On a similar note, it really irritates me that some parents take their LOs to DC and expect the teachers to feed them solids as soon as they get there. The teachers are trying to get 7-8 kids situated and I don't really think its reasonable to expect the 2 teachers to be focused solely on feeding one child first thing in the morning. I do the first morning feeding. Our babysitter is about 20min outside of town and LO would be screaming if she had to wait until I dropped her off. Besides it's time I get to have with her before I am away all day.
my daughter goes to bed every night at 9pm, but i wake her at 4:30am to nurse. she goes back to sleep, and i wake her up at 7:45am to go to daycare. her next feeding isn't until 9am, and daycare gives her a breastmilk bottle for that.
It depends on what time he wakes up. Very rarely do I feed him a bottle before going to daycare (unless you count him waking at 5AM to eat). If he didn't wake all night, he'll get a bottle as soon as he gets to daycare. If he ate in the middle of the night, they'll wait an hour or so to feed him.

DD would be screaming bloody murder if she had to wait til daycare fed her! She gets her last bottle for the night at 7pm so when she wakes up (around 6:30/7am) she wants to be fed asap.

No kidding! I am surprised to read some of the responses on this thread! My LO's last feeding in the evening is at around 10pm and he sleeps until 5ish. If I don't nurse him PRONTO when he wakes up, we're in trouble with all the screaming and crying. So yes - he gets one big feeding in the am (I'm engorged, usually) and then eats again at daycare around 8am (an 1 1/2 hours after he arrives). My LO is always screaming for a feeding when he wakes up from any given nap or in the morning.
DS likes to eat within 1/2 hour of being awake since he has gone 7-8 hours without a feeding. I know how crazy it can be in daycare some days when everyone is getting dropped off so for his sake I make sure he has a full belly and a dry diaper.
DS usually sleeps from 10:30pm to 6:30am. He doesn't usually wake up screaming but he is hungry. I nurse him on one side and pump the other side to add to the other bottles we pack up for the sitters. We don't leave the house until 8am and it takes a good 25min to get there so he would be STARVING if I didn't feed him first. AND if I didn't I don't think there would be enough bottles for him during the day (i seem to pump just enough to get him through the day).
I guess we are not the norm, but we don't normally feed dd before daycare. She eats around 8pm and usually sleeps until around 5:30 or so. When she wakes up at that time, we give her a paci and she goes back to sleep until we start getting her ready for daycare around 7am. We are there by 8am, and she is fed right away by the DCP when we get there.
