Medela pump in style advanced... what do I need?

I was given a Medela pump in style by a very good friend who's milk never came in. Because she did try to use it a couple times, I need to replace all the pieces but the actual motor piece. What do I need and where do I find it? I am very new to this whole thing, and looked on the Medela website but got super overwhelmed. I dont know what I need and what is just nice to have. Can someone provide me a list or show me where to get a replacement parts kit or something? Many thanks in advance!

  • Oooh, I would love this info too!

  • You need 2 shields, 2 valves and membranes, 2 tubes, and 4 collection bottles.

You can get the shields, valves, membranes, and the 4 collection bottles as a kit at Babies R Us for 26.99.  The tubing is the one thing they do not sell and if you call madela at 1-800-435-8316 they will either send you a set of tubing for $10 or give you a list of retailers in your area that carry them.

I know this only because I just went through it!

  • I think you have to call Medela to request this. At my breastfeeding class the instructor did mention that if you call to order parts DO NOT mention you are replacing them because you borrowed or got a pump second hand. I guess Medela will sometimes not sell to you or hassle you and say they recommend 1 user per pump for health reasons.

She also said a husband went out in search of replacement tubing and ended up getting it at an aquarium store. Interesting, but whatever works I guess!

  • i got everything from www.lilbranchs.com

Roy Branch was the bomb, I walked in with my used pump and he made sure it worked and sold me everything I needed.  Not sure if he ships, but it's worth a try.

    good luck!

  • You need breastshields (aka "horns") and perhaps new plastic tubes. Mind you that breastshields come in about 5 different sizes, so choose wisely so you don't strangle your nipples.

That's it. You don't need to go crazy bc it's from a trusted source.
