TTC after 35

accupuncture tomorrow

Anyone who is doing accupuncture and would like to give me an idea of what to expect for tomorrow?

I'm a nurse so I'm a little more comfortable with traditional medicine, however after 11 months of trying and 4 rounds of Clomid, I'm open to some new ideas!

Also, how many times a week do you usually go?  This will be about $50 a session out of pocket, so I'm trying to budget how much this will run :)

TIA!

Re: accupuncture tomorrow

  • I did acu for three months and loved it. My therapist put tiny needles in my abdomen area, mt temples, my feet. They didn't hurt at all. She also hooked the needles in my abdomen to a little machine that made them pulse. It was all very relaxing.

I went once per week except when I ovulated. Then I went the day of my surge, the next day, and the day after that. If you do a procedure, you'd go the day before, day of, and day after.  So, 6 times total per month for me.

Good luck! I hope that it works for you!

  • I go about once a week. They take a detailed description of your cycle, ovulation, cm, and such. She takes my pulse in each wrist, looks at my tongue, and then creates a plan. Mine places 15-30 needles along different axis points -wrist, abdomen, leg, feet, ears, and head. Different points at different sessions.
  • The pps have covered it well, but just a couple of random things.

It felt just like little pinches, except the week I ovulated, then it sort of felt like a moderate, almost annoying pinch.

I've only done it for one month, but had a chemical pg that first month, which to me was sort of a success even though not really.

My friend who was told she and her DH combined had about a zero chance of conceiving, even through IVF, got pg after 4 months.

They will likely give you chinese and/or japanese herbs to take. And they taste like dirt.  Add as little water as they say you can, and slam them.

    Good luck!

  • Thanks everyone for the feedback. It went well today and i go back for another session on thurs. He emphasized the importance of warm beverages, which will be a challenge for me. I love a cold coke :)

  • I have just started (and I am also a RN). I have had two treatments. At $65.00 each, I can't really afford more than every two weeks. So far I enjoy it, but not seen a big change yet (in anxiety levels).
