Cloth diapers?

I'm due in about 6 weeks, though my dr thinks I'll be going early. I was very lucky to get myself some used Thirsties diaper covers(with the help of a very kind woman I met here), but hubby and I fell on really hard times and I'm unable to proceed from there. I need cloth diapers (like the prefolds or flats, or inserts) and other accessories. Does anyone know where around central MN I could find a donation center or anything? I've had ads on Craigslist for a couple months now and not one reply. I've also tried FreeCycle with no results. I've been watching eBay and as cheap as a lot of them are going for, I really can't afford them. Thanks!

Re: Cloth diapers?

  • I am so sorry to hear about your hard times, but I think you will be really hard-pressed to find some free cloth diapers.

Most people that know anything about cloth diapers know that CDs with life left in them have a reasonable re-sale value, and they sell them and use the proceeds to invest in the next size for their child or re-coup part of their original investment.

I think you would just have to get lucky and find a generous soul or someone that knows nothing about cloth diapers that happened to have some.

Sorry I can't be more help!

  • teenygreenies.com, but I believe they have a wait list. There is also miracle diapers, but they are closed for new applications as well.

New prefolds are not expensive. Around 20 dollars a dozen. You should be just fine with 2 dozen to start off. I have snappis you can have, but I am planning on selling my diapers. I can't afford to not recoup some of my cost. I was thinking of selling my prefolds for 10/dozen plus shipping. If you would want them, we could meet somewhere to not have shipping costs. I have 3 or 4 dozen total.

  • I just saw a posting on craigslist where someone is giving away 2 bags of cloth diapers to someone in need.  Hopefully you'll see this posting and contact them.  I also saw another posting for families in need on craigslist where you can apply.  I will see if I can find the link.  I use cloth diapers and love them.  I use bum genius one size.  Prefolds are a great choice too.  Good luck!
  • Hmm, I've been searching and can't find either post..

lilbabyvenus already applied for this one :)

    (see blog comment from 11/5)

  • I never saw that was on craigslist too! I found that posted on diaperswappers.com I think? I was hoping to be able to post there, but they don't allow you to post "looking for" anything until you fill out an application, have 30 posts, and have been there for 30 days.
