Cloth Diapering

FLUFFY MAIL!!!

Part 1 (of many) of my cloth diaper shipments from Black Friday! I got two FREE diapers (FuzziBunz Perfect Size and Tweedle Bugs) a free wet bag, and a $30 off my next purchase for being an "early" shopper on Black Friday! Oh, and my first two PINK diapers!!! So exciting! Can't wait for the rest to arrive.

I've never heard of Tweedle Bugs?  Anyone use them or have any opinions on them?

  • I have a tweedlebugs and its not my favorite. I use it from time to time, when everything else is in the wash or I've been too lazy to wash. It doesn't seem to be very well made, mine has some strings coming out of it.

  • I just got 3 Tweedlebugs, but DS is still too small for them.....since the snaps don't overlap I can't get a snug enough fit and they leak at the legs.  Once he bulks up some though I think they will work really well.

  • Yup those are Softbums!  I love them too!  Other then freebies my entire stash is Softbums!  On Black Friday I bought 9 of the Omnis and 8 of the Echo's, plus the two freebies pictured above now I have 19 diapers for my twins. I think that's a good start!

Are you using softbums from the nb stage? They are my favorite diaper and even though I bought a newborn package I wasn't sure about using them from the very beginning with twins (since I expect they will be small). I have a huge nb stash of all different kinds of diapers but then plan on using mostly softbums.  What inserts are your favorite?

  • I plan to use Softbums from newborn to potty training with my twins! :)  I started my son on them when he was 18 months old.  They fit him great.  What convinced me to try them was my SIL, she used them on her twins starting at 1 month old.  They were born at 36 weeks and were pretty small when she started using Softbums on them and they worked great, so I expect to only use Softbums for my girls! I didn't want a diaper system that I would have to buy more of as my babies grew, I wanted a one size diaper and I really believe these are it!  I've tried about 10 brands before I found Softbums and it was the only one that fit my son great.  You can truly make them FIT any child and I LOVE the way they adjust.

I did not like the bamboo insert, I felt like he was so soggy in the morning with the bamboo because it doesn't wick away the moisture.  I only use the stay dry inserts with my son and at night I add a hemp insert underneath and it's more then enough to hold him 12-13 hours at night!  NEVER had a leak! :D  I haven't tried the Softbums doublers yet because they seem so much more bulky then the hemp inserts that I have.  I'm going to TRY using the doublers as a newborn insert with the twins and see how that goes.

I bought some of these hemp doublers as reccomended by Stephanie on this board.  LOVE it!  They work great.  Then I recently got about 6 hemp inserts from a friend for $5.  I have no idea what brand they are but they are also super thin and work great!

I do laundry every other night so you only really need 2-3 of these in your stash (per child).

  • I think I will probably keep the twins in sposies for the first week or two till all the meconium is out and their cords fall off.  I may try it for the heck of it, but I'm not sure if it will cover their belly button or irritate the cord?

  • Sadly softbums do not work for us at night. I have a super soaker though. I have an omni on its way so maybe that will work.

I need to try some of the regular stay dry inserts.
