Parenting after 35

Update-DH is taking the govt job, I think.

So he talked this afternoon with one of his co-workers who is kind of a supervisor, but not his direct supervisor.  He considers this guy a friend, but they don't always see eye to eye.

He knows DH is in a pretty tough spot, but didn't think waiting for the current company to come through with something would be smart, especially with a new baby in the house, etc.  So he recommended DH take the govt job.  "Bird in the hand" kind of thing.

So, he still has a few hours to debate this, but it sounds more and more like he's going to take the govt job.  I've never seen DH so sad looking!  He hates change.

  • I tend to be in the "bird in the hand" camp also. I hope he adjusts quickly and doesn't make your life too miserable while he does it.

I totally hate change as well - even if it is for the better!  I do hope he enjoys the job and is happy with his decision.

  • Awww, poor guy.  I hope he bounces back, and that the job turns out to be surprisingly fun for him!

  • Update to the update... yep, he's taking it.

And the funny thing is, he was the contractor in this office, so he literally just changes sides of the table.  So he's well aware of what the job is about, since he's been doing it for months already.

No more working from home in your jammies, dear!  That's probably why he's bummed about it!

I'm sure he'll be fine, but I know he's disappointed to leave his company and friends for a job he won't really enjoy that much.  But he knows it's probably the best thing to do right now.

  • I am a "bird in the hand" kind of person too, so I'm awful on this kind of advice.  Just reassure him that there is no wrong answer, but maybe this will lead to other open doors.  Wishing him a peaceful mind in whatever decision he chooses.

How are you feeling about it?
