XP, Feeding&STTN ?

I consider my LO a STTNer.  She eats at 11:30pm and goes to sleep and sleeps until about 8am.  Do those of you whose LO's sleep from 8pm-8am (approximately of course) go that long with out eating?  She gets bottles of BM, eats starting at 8am about every 4 hours (25oz a day total) until her last feeding at 11:30pm.  We are going to try to get her to go to bed earlier, because she sleeps from about 9-11 but will only sleep in our arms.  Should we still feed her at 11:30 or see what she does?

  • My LO is "sleeping" from approx. 8 pm to 8 am, but eating usually twice in between.

  • My LO is "sleeping" from approx. 8 pm to 8 am, but eating usually twice in between, but she eats almost exclusively BM.
  • DS typically sleeps from 8:30ish - 7:30ish.  Some nights he wakes up once to eat, other nights he sleeps straight thru.

I would only feed her if she wakes up.

  • DD sleeps approx 8 pm to 7 am (at the earliest, she wakes around 5:30).

Either way, she doesn't have her first bottle/nursing session of the day until around 7:30. She doesn't wake up starving, just awake. Then she gets fed every 4 hours until her 7:30 pm feeding, after which she goes down for the night.

We slowly weaned her about a month and a half or 2 mos ago from her one wake-up feeding (it was at 4 am).

If you can get her to go down at 9, maybe you can slowly wean out that 11 pm feeding? (If I'm reading this correctly.) I used pumped BM and lessened it by .5 oz every three days or so.

  • my LO has gone up to 12 hours without waking for a bottle. it's rare, though. usually it's closer to 11 hours, or she'll wake up during the night for one. she just started solids and i think that's helping.

Good idea, thanks!  Although first we have to get her to start sleeping in her crib after she eats at 8pm... we are going to start trying tonight.

  • Good luck!  Just an FYI, DD pushed back that wake-up as we lessened the amount of milk, so if that applied to your LO (obviously every baby is different so take it with a grain of salt), you may see her waking up still, just later, until she realizes she doesn't need it at all.
