Ugh & Insurance

A little annoyed, so I guess Keegan's supplement to gain weight is not medically necessary says our Insurance company - yet the doctor is telling us it is. Of course the doctor has him on the supplement that is really expensive.

I guess I will just have to sit tight until after the biopsy to see if it is the gluten causing the issues or just being a very active boy & needs the extra nutrients from the supplement.  Then go from there.

Just venting.. which is all I feel like I am doing lately ; )   But the good news is we should have answers within the next couple of weeks!

  • I hope he's just an active little dude with a high metabolism!

  • Will your doctor write the ins. company a letter?  If you keep fighting them they might give in.

Good luck with the test results!!

  • Why does life have to be so hard?  Why can't they just all get along and agree?  Totally agree withyour vent - and keep it coming.  It is better to get it out here than when you talk with them.

I agree with pp - see if the doctor will write your insurance a note.  Or maybe the doctor will know what will be covered.  S's doctor seems to know what/where our insurance will cover in the case that we decide to do surgery.

Here's crossing my fingers that he is just a really active boy and has the luxury/fun of eatting everything he wants!

  • Thanks ladies ; )

I figured I might as well wait at this point to see if it is medically necessary or a gluten issue & then fight it!  Trust me I will ; )

  • I agree with all of the above and just wanted to throw in that I am gluten free - have not technically been diagnosed as a celiac, more of a "gluten intolerant".  Your DS WILL be able to enjoy things like cookies and bread, it will just take more work and creativity to make them GF (I've figured out some tricks to make them not taste like manhole covers).  If, heaven forbid, he is diagnosed as celiac, I am happy to share some cooking secrets that have made my GF existence much more tolerable!  Fingers and toes crossed that he turns out to be okay w/gluten!

  • Insurance sucks!!  We pay so much for it, yet we are in over our heads with medical bills!
