Maryland Babies

New to the Perry Hall area and have questions

Hello.  I am moving to a home in Nottingham in less than two weeks with my husband, 2 year old son and 8 month old daughter.  I am wondering if there are any good Mom's groups around, or if there are any good weekly activities for preschoolers.  If anyone knows of any 2 year old preschool classes too, that would be great (I see that Towson Presbyterian has a 2 year old class, but I'm not sure if that might be too much of a drive for a 2.5 hour class).  We've been staying in the Towson area for the last month since my husband's job is around here, and I do think I'll enjoy living in MD, but starting over as a Mom in a new area where you don't know anyone is tough!  Thanks for your responses!

  • Gymboree is really fun and not that far from perryhall, there is a strollersize program you could do at whitemarsh mall to meet moms, i know of a get together once in awhile of bump moms but i have yet to get to it. good luck and welcome baltimore is a awesome place.

  • Yay for Nottingham!!

My SIL is a preschool teacher at Holy Cross Lutheran on Loch Raven Blvd:  https://www.holycrosstowson.com/1022.html

She teaches the 3y/o class & I don't remember who does the 2y/o class.  Can't hurt to call/email to ask if they have any space though!

ETA:  Here's a link on the Stroller Strides program Teagiedo mentioned: https://www.franklinsquare.org/body.cfm?id=558740&action=detail&ref=33 (I was interested but it's M-F 9-10am; boo Sad)

  • Kids First Swim in Perry Hall has Mommy & Me swim classes which are fun, though there has to be an adult for each baby so your DH would have to go too, or stay home with one LO while you do it with the other kid.

Also check out baltimoremommies.com. I'm a member though have never made it to an event as most of them are during work hours. If you SAHM or work nontraditional hours you will have a better chance at finding time to join. Even for weekend events, the SAHM sign up for all the spots (often at someone's home, so # of guests is limited) as soon as they are posted, so working moms don't get much chance to go to those either. :(

  • I'm also in Perry Hall :)

I go to a mom's group at Franklin Square Hospital on Wednesdays at 11. Its a 'support group' for moms with kids under 1. Older kids welcome, delicious lunch provided--and its free :)  I enjoy it.

  • Thanks everyone.  I'll have to check some of those things out!

  • I use to be a member of the MOMs club of Perry Hall/White Marsh.  Great bunch of ladies.  I left after my son started pre-school.  I will be joining again once #3 arrives!  I am still great friends with some of the moms.  Let me know if you want some contact info for them.
