Has your fashion style changed since LO came along?

I never thought I'd change the way I dress after Josue came along but I certainly have.  For example, I now choose tops that won't give the world a peep show when I reach down to get J.  Also, the low rise jeans I used to wear are now a pain the butt because I'm constantly pulling them up after kneeling down 100 times a day (not to mention the muffin top I now rock).  I also stopped wearing lip gloss because J always has his hands on my face and my foundation always ends up on his tops so now I wear powder.

How has your style changed?

  • I have no style now...long sleeved t-shirts andCrying jeans..

  • Definitely! But a lot of it has to do with the fact that I went from working in a corporate environment to being a SAHM. I'm much more casual than I was before DD- it just doesn't make any sense for me to dress up. I rarely wear much makeup anymore either; I feel like I would look silly at the park with a full face on, ya know?

  • I'm actualy working harder on looking good when I go out- DS has stopped grabbing for jewelry (for the time being) so I always wear a necklace or earrings. I/ve also wearing the long cardigans a lot- I figure it help with the mommy belly and I can still wear my skinnies and a tank.

    Yes tank, love So CA.

  • Mine has not changed...but I have to dress up everyday for work.

This. Plus I used to live in heels even while pg now ,unless I go out without LO,the best I do are wedges. I was too afraid of tripping and falling while holding LO because of the heels.

  • Yep, I feel the same way as you do. All my tops seem so short right now. I keep wondering what I was thinking when I bought them. I don't have the money for a new wardrobe, though. I'm a SAHM, and I wear tennis shoes and jeans any time I leave the house. I feel like a total slob!

LOL, but your LO looks gooood!  Too cute, I love the siggy

  • Yes. I used to wear more casual/sporty.. now with a daugther and looking forward to move up in my career I'm started to dress more casual than sporty, like cardigans instead of hoodies, etc.

Besides, I like to dress when we go out, so that hasn't change too much.

  • I got in a bad funk after LO was born.  Actually, I think it was when I m/c before getting pregnant with LO that I began getting into a funk.  It all happened so fast.  I looked ok while pregnant, but that's because I went out and bought all new maternity clothes.  But after LO was born, it was really really bad.

I just recently started working with a style consultant and I've made a few changes.  Just little things here and there are making a big difference in how I feel, not just how I look.  I was so frumpy before, and it was affecting my personality, and my creativity - which is bad, because my job demands creativity.

  • Not really.  I usually dress pretty comfortably, and I always wish that I had taken the time to be more "glamorous".

Same as you!  I also cut my hair to help make me more stylish... I went through my closet and purged all the "non-mom" clothes... now that I am a Mom I jsut can't wear certain things... not saying I dressed like a hussy or anything, but some items were just not Mom appropriate!

  • I dress a bit more comfy now then I do trendy unless I am going out, which is a very rare occurrence.

  • No more hoop earrings - LO pulls on them

No more high heels - cant fun fast enough to catch up with LO and scared to fall while carrying him

No more tight jeans - not comfortable to bend down

No more tight tops - went from flat belly to a muffin top

No more nice hair - LO pulls on hair

No more purse - it was replaced by a diaper bag

Hmmm...the only thing I still do is put on make-up, but that is more and more difficult to do lately since LO does all kinds of crazy stuff while I am trying to put make-up on.

  • Nope, but I have to dress up for work every day.

I wish I could be more casual.  Running errands with a toddler after work, hoisting him in & out of the car, etc. would be so much easier in jeans & a sweater rather than a pencil skirt & 3-inch heels.

  • Yeah because my boobs are saggy and flabby now so no more low-cut tops or dresses where I would otherwise go without a bra like I used to be able to do, lol.  Not that I would purposely wear shirts that were low-cut but my boobs are also kind of big so it was hard to wear a cute top without showing some cleavage.  But... no more of that.

  • If anything, I try to dress better now. I still use most of my old wardrobe, primarily because it's business-casual work attire, but I've made an effort to invest in a few more quality pieces. I think part of it is because I'm relatively young (26) and feel like I need to dress the part of mom and career woman, if that makes any sense. Still in my high heels (I'm 5'0", I can't function without heels), still wear the same make-up, mostly the same jewelery, really only got rid of the dangly earrings and stick with studs.
  • Well, I can't wear necklaces anymore because DS has broken two of my chains :(

Umm. . .yeah, I also don't wear low-cut shirts anymore because my boobs are a lot bigger (and saggier lol) and I end up with cleavage where there wasn't any before.

  • ha. I used to manage a very popular teenage clothing store and used to be in the fashion loop, but now I wear sweatpants and what ever tshirt i can find to fit over my ever growing belly. I SAH, so i dont have to look good. When i do get to work, i pretty much have a uniform, so thats pretty easy.
