VERY pregnant vs pregnant

Can someone explain why doctors say "You are VERY pregnant"... you either are pregnant or you are not. I just had a pee test today at my first appointment and after, she came in to tell me that I was VERY pregnant. I don't get it. Yes... I'm very under educated about pregnancy stuff since this is #1. TIA!

    I would assume they meant that the positive came back fast & with a dark line, meaning you're far enough along the chemicals in your urine that change the test are high, when you first get pregnant the levels pretty low.

    Ha!  That's pretty funny.  I'm guessing you just have a lot of HcG in your pee so the stick turned colors really fast.  But agreed, you are either pregnant or you're not.  And apparently, you certainly are :).

    I actually wanted to know that I was very pregnant when I had my betas tested. The lab only had an order for a urine test and I was like "uh uh, I need to know how pregnant I am! I already know I'm pregnant!"

    Honestly, I think that is a pretty dumb response for just a pee stick.  The darkness of the line does not indicate how pregnant you are.

    If you had betas done, I can see how it would work.  A higher beta indicates you are more pregnant than if you have a low beta.

    Well, I suppose I'd rather hear that than the comment I have gotten several times between my two pregnancies....when people hear I'm still in the first trimester I've been told "oh, you're barely pregnant"  Um....ok?  Thanks I guess... but your response SUCKS!  Because you either are or you aren't, and beyond that it's just a matter of how far along you are.  Being 9 weeks in, IMO, isn't *barely* pregnant!
