morning sickness! Can't keep down prenatals

Hi, Morning sickness has been so awful that I can barely eat let alone manage to keep down any pre-natals or vitamins. I only started taking them when I got pregnant.

Carbs seem to be the only foods I can keep down and all of the recommended veggies are pretty hard to keep down.

I'm worried that I'm not nourishing my baby.

  • hello Smile you might have posted on the wrong board but its okay ( try 1st trimester ) Just try to eat what you can and hopefully it will go away soon.

I hear Rainbow prenatals are great for that. Also take your prenatal at night, it helped me alot,

Saltines, jolly ranchers, ginger, mints, minty gum

  • Sorry to hear that you are having such a hard time! Morning sickness can be rough. Did you recently have an OB visit? I would bring this up with your OB, they will be able to make sure that you and your baby are healthy. Just try your best to keep down what you can, I am sure your baby is getting enough. Also, at least try to hold down some water so that you do not dehydrate. Hopefully it will ease up soon!

  • Preggy pops or drops work very well!

  • My prenatals made me sick during my 1st tri, so my OB told me to take chewy vitamins until the 1st tri was over.  I also took extra folic acid because the chewables didn't have enough.

  • Target has gummy prenatal vitamins. I had stopped taking mine because I had nausea through the whole pregnancy, and about 4 months someone on TB mentioned them. They are really good, dont have calcium or added iron though I dont think the Rx prenatals did either.

  • Try taking them in the evening once your body has gotten some food and fluids and drink a nice big glass of milk or water with them. That's what helped me.

  • Definitely talk to your doctor ASAP. I got put on a medicine that helped tremendously with the barfing. Also, I second the Target gummy prenatals! Finally, one of the #1 things I used were these pressure bands I got from CVS or Walgreens that you put around your wrists.

  • Take them at night right before you go to sleep.  Also, babies are like parasites (cute tiny parasites of course).  They will get the nutrients they need from you first.  Your body will handle your needs second.  So don't panic about not eating perfectly in the first trimester.
  • dont worry...i had terrible morning sickness for four months and could barely eat or take my prenatals. your baby will feed off of you for all of their nutrition. You may have to catch up on yourself after delivery but dont worry your baby is still being nourished. PS i had a ten pounder!
