When LO plays on the floor

Do you use a blanket, or just let them roll/crawl around on the floor?  Since DD has outgrown her playmat we always put out a blanket BUT it stays out ALL day and I'm sick of looking at it.  We vacuum reguarly but when she puts her mouth to the ground it grosses me out thinking of what could be on there.

Re: When LO plays on the floor

  • After he outgrew his playmat I put a blanket down also.  But it became more fun to roll off the blanket so I have not been as consistent
  • Loading the player...
  • I used a blanket for DS to play on until he started crawling. Now he won't stay in one place for more then a minute.
  • We put the quilt away long ago.  She was making her way off of it and onto the carpet anyway.  It kind of grosses me out too, but like you, I'm SO glad I no longer have to look at that big thing that took up my entire living room.  Now it's just cluttered with toys!

  • I use a blanket.  If she gets off it I pick her up and put her back on and am trying to teach her to stay on it.  I pick it up when it's not being used.
  • We use a blanket, but she's starting to scoot on her belly and she hates staying in one place, so it may not do much good for very much longer.  We do pick it up when she's not playing on it.
  • i have a full sized quilt that I lay on the floor for LO. WHen he is not on the floor I pick it up, fold it and put it in the ottoman (it opens up).  We have hardwood floors and although we have area rugs i still like to have a blanket for LO to play on.

I also keep the floors swept and wash the blanket 1-2 times a week since LO is still a pretty big spitter.

  • At first we used a blanket but she rolls off of it so quickly it doesn't seem worthwhile.  We vacuum constantly and keep the area clean.
  • We got a huge rug, but she climbs off that too.  It does help though, since it's really big and she mostly stays on it, especially when playing with her toys!
  • I used the comforter that came with her bedding set for awhile.  But now she is on the move!  She rolls right off in seconds - so I gave up.  I have cats so I vacuum the play room at least every other day. It took me awhile to get over the "gross" factor :o)
  • When he stayed in one spot I used to use a blanket... I don't do anything now but I steamclean my floors bi-weekly and we have turned our house into a no-shoe house.
  • I put her straight on the floor. She has been scooting for a long time, and blankets hinder her movement.
