For Working Mom's who use a babysitter...Please enter!

Hi everyone!  I just have a quick Christmas gift question.  For those of you who take your LO to a babysitter, not a daycare center....are you going to get your babysitter a Christmas gift?  If you also have other children, please tell me if you have given your babysitter a gift in the past.  I Dont know if it is expected that i give her a gift or not.  We are pretty tight on finances right now, but I dont want to be the only parent that doesnt get the babysitter something.

Thanks for your input!

  • The lady that watches DS also use to watch my step-son a few years ago and we never gave her a Christmas gift.  I'm okay being the only parent that doesn't.  Money's tight and we already pay so much for daycare. Plus I look at the time she spends with DS as our daily gift to her because we could have decided to go with someone else and didn't because we know and trust her with our most precious gift.

  • I would get her a little something, maybe a gift certificate or a nice box of chocolate.

  • As a teacher and former day care provider I recommend you do something for her to show much you appreciate her and what she does for your LO. The best gifts I've gotten (handwritten thank you notes) didn't cost anything. If money's tight you might also consider making a treat like cookies or something.

this.  its not about how much you spend

  • I bought a home interior candle for my sitter and her helper. I also make candy and dip pretzels. So I will give them a plate of that too. Its just a little gift to say thanks
