Hi, all. I've got a quick question re: Manual Breast Pumps. DD #1 was born 10+ years ago and the Avent Isis was great (and nearly the only option available). DD #2 is expected in April and while I won't be returning to work, I will be pumping for emergencies, etc. Once my supply is established, I will probably pump a couple of times each day. To be honest, I cannot remember what I did with Briana, but I do know - in the end - she had about 6 months of milk in a cup (from the freezer/fridge) after she self-weaned.
I've had some trouble finding the Isis ... and am wondering if there is something better out there? I really do not want the expense of an electric pump - I just don't think I would utilize it enough to warrant the $200+. Another stupid question ... for those breastfeeding and pumping - what bottle system are you using, or are you avoiding bottles in order to avoid nipple confusion? I like the Avent bottles (am not really worried about nipple confusion, as 9/10 feedings will be me - not the artificial nipple - and I may need to leave the baby (unfortunately) prior to her being old enough for a sippy cup. :-( I'm assuming all bottles work with all pumps??
Thanks, in advance, for the advice!!
Re: Manual Breast Pumps
I actually think that the Avent pump is only compatible with Avent bottles... I think I read that somewhere.
I have the Medela Harmony and it works great for my purposes. You can use any bottles with it, but I just pump into the Medela storage bottles and then put the milk in 4 oz servings into the Lansinoh bags (they thaw much quicker than the bottles if you're freezing). I use Medela and Dr. Brown bottles for feeding.
