Indiana Babies

Jac!

Have you started your cookies yet?  If not: do THESE!  I've tried about 15 sugar cookie recipes over the past few years, and these are SO MUCH better than anything else.  They're beautiful, they don't spread, and they taste a billion times better than any sugar cookie I've ever had.  As for the royal icing, I've also had great success with this recipe, but I paint it on instead of lining/flooding.  I have much better control that way.

Re: Jac!

  • Woops, I hit "post" too soon.  Yes, it is a lot of work, and I don't know if I could do it with a little baby.  IMO, it's Totally worth it!  I do it every year at least once, but normally a few times.  I forgot to say before, the icing does not taste good soft, but after it hardens it's really good.  Okay, I'll stop talking about cookies now :)  It's my favorite subject.

  • Mandy! Thanks for the links :) This sugar cookie stuff is serious business - haha! I actually haven't atarted baking yet, G and I took a much needed nap together on the couch. I think I'm going to try the flavored-with-almond-extract recipe first just because I feel like sugar cookies can be pretty bland. If I'm not a fan of those (because it sounds like there is quite a bit trial-and-error with SCs) I'll definitely try the one you suggested!

Also, GOOD LUCK! I meant to page you on Friday but it slipped my mind. I hope the 2WW passes quickly for you and that you and Katie are on your way to becoming mamas SOON! Sorry for so many caps but it's so exciting :) It seems like you two have been waiting a long time for this adventure to begin.
  • Aw, you're so sweet!  Yes, we've been waiting FOREVER!!!  We're both thrilled that the day has finally come :)  Oh, I forgot to mention that I added 1/4 tsp almond to the cookies, b/c you just have to have that.
