how many burpies and bibs do I need?

I'm going through shower gifts and believe it or not, not a single bib or burp cloth. That said, we got an amazing assortment of stuff for Charlotte. She is well loved it seems which just makes me so happy.

So, I'll go get all the rest of the stuff we need. I vaguely remember running out all the time when I was a nanny and being so annoyed because it seems we went through them like crazy.

How many cloths and bibs do you use in a day typically?

Thanks!

  • haha, many.  I have around 20 cloths because that's what Angelica chose as blanky.  She always has one in her hand.

  • We have a ton of burp cloths, we use them all the time. But we never used bibs, Austin hated them and it wasn't worth the hassle.

  • I use about 40 bibs a week since Ava drools so much now that she is teething.  I rarely use burp cloths.
  • Gavin isn't much of a drooler so I don't use a lot of bibs and maybe 2 burp cloths/day.  We'll probably need bibs more when he starts solids.  BUT, I just spent a week with my inlaws and G's cousin goes through like 10 bibs per day because he's constantly drooling.  So I guess it depends on your kid.  I would get a few of each to start with -- you can always buy more later if you need them.
  • We went through a ton of burping cloths at the beginning.  We hardly ever used bibs.  Now that we are on a solid diet we go through a lot more bibs.  I guess it really does depend on your baby, so just get a couple of each and wait and see.

Agreed. And for drooling, you want absorbant bibs, but for eating you can get the kind that wipes off so you don't go through as many.
