Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Anyone else still rolling in the infant carrier?

We still have Z in his infant carrier and he has not yet met the height and weight restrictions. He looks so comfy and safe in there. I also think I'm afraid of moving him up as it would be accepting he is becoming a big boy.

Please tell me I'm not the only one.

  • No ma'am.. I couldn't WAIT to get rid of that infant carseat and we switched to the convertible back in May.

  • DS is still in his infant carrier in DH's car. He also hasn't met either the height or weight restrictions. (he's a little guy.)

he did get another convertible for his birthday, but we haven't installed it in DH's car yet.

  • No, we switched out in June when DD was 8 months and about 18lbs.
  • Kam is still in her carrier. We have exceeded the height requirements by a quarter of an inch but she is still under the weight requirement. She is getting a convertible for xmas so we will be switching soon.

  • dood, mexi you totally read my mind! YES YES YES!!

I texted murfy this morning and asked her the same thing. She said i was crazy!

I actually need to verify height and weight requirements for ours though.

I LOVE the carrier bc DD is always sleeping in the car and I'd hate to have to wake her. Also, i carry a lot of sheet to the car and having the carrier at my elbow gives me a free hand. If i had to carry baby that would take away one hand. UGHHH.

I still take DD to DC in carrier, church, shopping, EVERYWHERE! I just throw the carrier on the frame that we have. LOVE IT! ESP when flying!

ETA: duh, since we have the chico keyfit 30..apparently height and weight is up to 30lbs/30" :-)

  • We're still using ours (although I need to measure DS because I feel like he he has been growing a ton lately and I haven't checked his length in a few weeks!)  We don't carry ours around anymore - just keep it in the car.  We do need to pick up another carseat for DCP though.  Ughhhh.

  • We have to be out of it toot-sweet, seeing as how he's 14oz away from reaching the weight limit, but we are still rocking it :)

  • We switched in the summer, but still used it as an extra until she turned 9 months. DD was over the height limit when she was 6 months old. She hit the weight limit at 9 months.

  • My DD is also still rolling in her infant car seat.  I'm trying to milk the use of that thing as long as i can. I asked for a new conv one for xmas...but will plan to use her current one for a little while longer.  I do feel a little guilty.....eventhough she is still under the weight req, she looks crammed in there :)
  • We're still using it, probably will be until her birthday, which will make for a good present...

I'm so glad I'm not the only one that is having issues with this..lol.

We have the Snugride 35 and Z probably just hit the 20 mark. Technically he still has 15lbs on that thing. I don't think we will keep him in there that long. It just looks so snug and safe.

  • We're still using ours, but rarely take her out of the car in it unless she's asleep. We have the Snugride 32, and Peanut is only 17.5 lbs and 27inches, I probably won't switch her to a convertable until well after her birthday.

  • We plan to keep her in it until she reaches one of the requirements. As of a month ago she had 4 inches or 8 lbs to go, so it'll be awhile. I expect her birthday or later.

You might want to make that an early Christmas gift :) Car seats are outgrown when kids reach either the height OR weight limit- whichever comes first.

But, the listed height limit isnt as important as seated height. As long as your LO's head is more than 1" from the top of the seat, then it's not outgrown by height even if the child's full length is more than what is listed on the seat. Two babies could both be 30" tall, but one could have a short torso and the other a long one and could outgrow the same seat months apart.

Sounds crazy and confusing, but since they have to put some number on there so parents have a guide point, they put the average height in which the seat is outgrown.

  • We are still rockin the carriers x2 at our house. We're going to switch them around Christmas but they still haven't met the height and weight restrictions either.

  • We're still using ours as of now, but I bought a convertable online over the weekend so I'm just waiting on it to get here. He's 2lbs away from the weight requirement (not sure about the height but I imagine he's still under as he's in the 5th percentile for height) but he looks squished in there. Plus I avoid carrying him in it if at all possible. It's so heavy!

  • Ryan reached the height limit WAY early, but we did keep him in it as long as possible, until about June I think. Our seat only went up to 22lbs and Ryan weighs almost 30 now.

  • We switched him in July to a convertible. He is so much happier in it since he can see out the car window.
  • We just switched E, I want to say a week ago.  She was nowhere near the restrictions either, but I felt a little ridiculous carrying around a 9.5 month old in a baby seat.

I really do miss the infant seat. It was so much easier!

  • :: jumping in a week early ::

DH still uses it and loves it. He takes DD to DC in it all the way to her room and we use it on the weekends. She loves napping in the car so it's awesome to take her around. I really hope she can be there until spring and warm weather.

I'm using convertible since DD was 4 months.

We have the Snugride 35 too I love it but it def gets super heavy!

  • My peanut is still in the infant carrier. We just had her 10 month appt today and she is only 15lbs 4.5ozs and 26.5 in. I assume she'll outgrow it someday but for now I'm sticking with it!
  • We only moved out of ours a month ago. DS hadn't met the height or weight restrictions (and still hasn't). I hurt my back a few years ago though and it is much easier on my back to carry DS by himself than it is to carry DS in the carrier.
