Babies: 3 - 6 Months

I am SO over this shiity sleeping!

we are now at a full week of DS waking up every hour after his initial stretch of sleep; and I'm exhausted!

And...it seems with every night, that first stretch of sleep is getting shorter and shorter...

Last night he was down at 8:10, was up at 1, 2:30 (didn't get up this time, he fell back to sleep on his own), 3:45, 5:15, 6:30, 7:15, and up for good at 8am...

I'm SO OVER THIS!! I think the most frustrating thing is that I can't even ask DS if there is something he needs or wants, which is why he's waking up. Also frustrating is that I don't know when it's going to end. Even if I knew, ok, he's going through this, but it will be over in 2 weeks or whatever, I could deal with it...but I don't

When it comes to sleep training, I think he's still too young, and besides, once he goes into his crib at night, we don't pick him up at all, so it's not like he's used to getting cuddles. We prop a pillow under him to feed him at night (don't worry, we remove it and lay him flat before we go back to bed), and when he wakes other times and isn't hungry we just pop the paci back in and walk away...so I don't even know what we COULD be doing that we aren't already...

GRRRR....I'm so tired and frustrated...

OK; vent over.Thanks for listening...

  • Mama, I am right with you on this one! My sweet DD is just not a good sleeper not matter what we do and she is 5 months old!!!

I swear we've tried everything, bath before bed, massage, low lights, music, long feeding, short feeding, crib, bassinet.  Nothing really clicks or lasts for long.  She has been sleeping in her bouncer since day one but except two times, has never slept more than 3-4 hours at a time. I wish I knew what she wanted too, it is SO frustrating!! I will let her cry it out, but not for too long and let me tell you she has a set of lungs like Pavarotti-OMG!!

I feel like DD is regressing in her sleep pattern too and I'm at a loss.  At first I though it was the so called '4 month wakeful', ok well that has passed and now we are blaming it on teething.  Last night, she slept on me all. night. long. as I am half sitting up, it's gotta stop.  You are not alone!

  • Oh God, me four!! DS went to sleep at 8:30pm, woke at 11:30, 1:40, 4:00 & 6:00. He's had big 12 minute feeds each time he wakes too so he's definitely hungry. What's worse is I have a st*tty sinus cold with a swallowed razor blades sore throat and I'm getting over a mild dose of Rotovirus. Ugh!

  • I've never known my DS to sleep longer than 4hrs at a time, ever. Ok twice he slept 5 1/2 hrs. All I can tell you momma's is don't stop moving during the day, once you sit its all over and exhaustion will take over. I found that I've gotten use to the schedule, it's still hard but manageable. My only advice is keep moving, don't sit down, and try really hard to go to bed when they do. I'm hoping right along with you women that they STTN soon. Good luck to all!!!
  • We were going through this too, and it sounds like your goal is to not pick him up.. but he may NEED you, even if its just for a second.  Whenever our babes wake up (which its about the same time yours is around 1-2am) we go in there put their paci in their mouth rub their head and they fall back to sleep for about 45 minutes, when they wake up again.. I pick them up put their paci in their mouth and rock them for about 2 minutes and then place them in their swing.. they usually will go back to their sound sleep til about 6am

  • We co-sleep after DD wakes for the first time, and that's pretty much the only thing keeping me going. If I had to get out of bed every time, I'd be a walking zombie. She's getting a bit of a cold now, so she was up even more last night. Usually she wakes every couple hours to nurse starting somewhere between 12:30-2am. Last night she woke up at 10pm right as I was going to bed. She pretty much nursed or fussed all night long after that. I think I fed her 3 times and gave her a pacifier twice. Plus she fussed a couple times but then went back to sleep. I'm not a fan of any kind of sleep training for us. I'm hoping once this cold passes and her teeth pop through, she'll start sleeping better again.
