Anyone pump at work after 1 year?

LO will be 1 in 11 days and I'm still pumping twice per day at work.  My goal was to be down to just one pumping session, then just nurse in the morning and at night.  I never reduced the number of pumping sessions because I'm afraid I won't produce enough milk AND I'm emotionally attached to bf.

If you pumped at work after 1 year...how many weeks/months?

Re: Anyone pump at work after 1 year?

  • I'm still pumping once a day (DD is 15 months).  I had a really hard time convincing myself to cut back when she hit 1 year (surprisingly; I thought I'd be dying to stop), so I just kept going.  Eventually I started getting less and less milk as she was eating more solids and nursing less, and now it's at the point where I only get a few ounces anyway, so I went down to one session about a month ago and I'm thinking I'll start weaning from that last session in the next few weeks.  I feel good about doing it this way because I am kind of following DD's lead.  She still nurses pretty frequently when we're together, so I don't think that is going to stop any time soon.  Good luck to you!

  • I'm curious about the responses you get.  I have a fairly large freezer stash at this point (550 oz) so I still pump three times a day at work and most nights before I go to bed.  My plan is to wean off the night pump in about one month (baby will be 9 months at that point).  Then I'll start weaning off the daytime sessions and use my freezer stash to make it to one year.

I'll still nurse mornings and evenings but I am SO ready to be done with the pump. I'm counting the days.  I figured if I drying up right now to the pump I could feed him at daycare for 45 days.  So I could safely quit pumping at 10.5 or 11 months old and still keep LO EBF.

Good luck.  I definitely understand the emotional portion.

I have a great freezer stash as well, but I'm just afraid if I stop pumping, I'll stop producing.  Embarrassed

I think this will be a driving factor as well.  I will figure out something.  Thanks ladies!
