XP - Have you introduced peanut butter?

If you have, when and how did you do it? We have no history of food allergies on either side, so I'm sure DS will be ok, I just don't know how to go about it. Just give him a taste? I've heard to put it on his skin first to see if that causes anything, but I'm not sure. TIA girls!

  • I gave him a pbj sandwich and then watched for signs of a reaction. He had no issues with it and now eats pbj for lunch about once a week.

  • I did at about 12 months.  I made DD a pbj with very minimal pb and watched for a reaction.  She didn't have one, so we kept on.
  • She had a PB&J sandwich right after she turned one. We don't have a history of any food allergies in either of our families.
  • Yep, she's had it a few times, but she normally eats almond butter. She just likes it better (and so do I!)

I introduced pb by giving her a taste off of my finger, and when she liked it I made her a sandwich.

  • around 11-12 months we put some on an englisg mufin...they loved it and did fine...
  • I just gave DD a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, but I only do a thin layer of pb since I don't want it to be goopy with the bread in her mouth.

  • He had a nibble of my PB&J at Panera when he was just about a year old. He did fine, so we started giving it to him more often. He likes it a lot, and one of his favorite foods is a heated PB&banana sandwich with a bit of granola on pita bread.

We chose to introduce it when we did because it's a great source of protein and we don't have a history of allergies.

  • Thanks everyone! I'm going to give it a try at lunch time and see how it goes.
  • Son: Hi peanut butter

PB: Hi E. How are you?

Son: Good. I'd like to eat you.

    PB: Sure. Have at it.

I slapped it on some bread and handed it to him. He ate it.

  • we gave her some crackers w/ pb on them when she was about a year. waited a few days, saw no reaction and haven't looked back.
