Andrew has surgery tomorrow at 3:00. It's the only time they could fit in both ENT & GI, so it has to be so late in the day.
So he can't eat anything after 7:00 am, except clear liquids which he can have until 11 am.
Normally Andrew would sleep 12 hours. So either 7:30-7:30, 8-8, 8:30-8:30, whatever.
He eats very little during the day, usually most of his food at night. Take this morning - he woke up early at 7:30, and it's 9:30 but he's only eaten 2 bites of toast with me feeding it to him.
The idea of waking him up at 6:30 to feed him gives me the shivers. 1) he'll be tired as hell and cranky until 3:00. 2) I'm pretty sure he won't eat because he'll be tired and confused and he doesn't even eat much at all most mornings anyways. So then he'll be awake early, tired, and have to wait that much longer for surgery.
Instead I was thinking of keeping him up later (8:30), feeding him as much as I can before he goes to bed, hoping he sleeps (I think his really teeth hurt, hes' a super clingy whiney mess, so that could backfire),  At that point he'll only be able to have clear liquids (apple juice etc) until surgery.  We leave at 1, check in at 1:30, and surgery is at 3.
Re: Am I nuts? WWYD (surgery)
I would think both would be fine but for sure ask and I think that will at least keep thinking he's eating something instead of going with nothing! I hope the surgery goes well......I feel exhausted for you already!
I took a nap yesterday afternoon when Clark did and it felt awesome...get one in today for sure!!! Sounds like you are going to need it!
I took one yesterday and it helped. I'm anticipating a long day and no sleep tomorrow night too. Oy.
wow....really?!?!? I guess get lots of different flavors of juice.
she said only clear juice - like apple juice - and he can only sip it, not drink a whole cup for example
