Birth Certificate/SS card

How long does it usually take to get the birth certificate and social security card after the baby is born and paperwork filed? DH's insurance company is insisting we send them this information within 30 days in order to add her to his policy, but the hospital told us it could be 4-6 weeks before we get these back. Does anyone know/remember about how long it actually took to get them?

    we got our ss card pretty quick, not sure how quick tho.  we still don't have the bc.

    We got his SS card within a month, but we had to order a copy of his birth certificate and it took a little longer. Eastside Medical sent us a Confirmation of Birth letter and our insurance company took that in lieu of the actual birth certificate.

    The hospital sent us a "Certificate Of Live Birth" which was all we needed (actually, I don't even think I had to send it in to the insurance co.). We got our ss card in about 4-6 weeks and it took about a month or so to get his birth certificate (we had to mail the certificate of birth in to get the birth certificate).

    We got the SS card at about 3 weeks, but I still need to order the birth certificates...I think Jack was close to a year old before I ever did this for him!  I'll try to be more on the ball this time :)

    It took about 4 weeks to get the certificate of birth and we ordered birth certificate with that (another 2 weeks to get those). I JUST got the SS card on 10/21 and my daughter was born 8/18 - it took so long that I actually went to the SS office 3 days before it arrived in the mail (I was impatient, but my friends with babies born within days of mine at the same hospital got their SS cards over a month ago!)

    We forgot to order the birth cerfiticates ooops...I ordered them this year before MMO and they came in like 2 weeks. It was REALLY fast - faster than they led me to believe....I just ordered them online and paid a little more.
