Can we talk about thongs?

I have tried so hard to convert to thongs, but I just cannot do it.  I own some.  I have tried different kinds.  I have even tried to shame myself into wearing them, by thinking about my inevitable visible panty lines, but I just can't do it... and on the rare occassion that I do, do it I am aware and distracted by my underwear all day long trying to pull it out of my butt (even though I know that is where it belongs).

I tried to wear one this morning because I am wearing a pair of pants that came out of the laundry a bit snugger (yeah right I am sure it was the brownies I ate last night, but we will call the it the dryer for now).  I wore one through breakfast then I had to change.  And instead of worrying about visible panty lines I just pulled my shirt down to cover my butt.

Am I doing something wrong?  Any recent converts want to give me some secrets?  Or is this one of those things like you either like it, or you don't.. like wine, or coffee?

  • I think it's something you like or don't.  Me...hate em'.

  • I don't wear thongs and I still have underwear up my butt all day. I had a short period where I'd wear them and they were just uncomfortable. IDK what the secret is. I'm thinking my butt just isn't built for thongs.
  • I hate thongs and how I feel the need to pull them out of my butt all day long. I mostly don't wear or own pants that are tight enough to show panty lines either or I just don't care all that much. I'd rather go without anything than wear a thong.
  • hahaha, this is great.  I did have that same issue, I had some from VS that were not very thin in that area.  I found some that were thinner in that area and are much more comfortable.

Maybe you need a different cut of underwear?  If not, my friend showed me how to effectively get your underwear out of your crack... but you have to make sure no one else is around first Wink

  • yeah I am not a fan of thongs but will wear one if really necessary (slinky dress/tight pants, etc). I've found these undies to be the best for hiding panty lines when not in the thong mood though  https://www.hanes.com/Hanes/Products/Women-Hanes/Women_ShopByCategory-Hanes/Women_Panties-Hanes/Women_Panties_NoRideUp-Hanes/HBPQ2.aspx

  • When I first started wearing them, I went around all day long thinking I had a wedgie.  I couldn't stand it.  Eventually, I got used to it, then regular underwear felt weird :)

If you want to wear them, I suggest wearing ONLY them until you get used to it.

    I love thongs now.

    ETA:

BTW, and I can't believe I'm writing this post at all, lol...

I find that g-strings are most comfortable.  There's the least amount of fabric in your butt and it's easier to ignore.

If you're anything like me (and I'm not sure you should compare yourself to me in this way, haha), DON'T buy the kind made entirely of lace (even the back part).  They, ahem, chafe much worse.  Uncomfortable city.

  • I am not the world's biggest thong fan but visible panty lines are just awful. I suggest VS The Lacy Thong.....is really stretchy and soft.  Also if given the option between a thong and g-string, try the g-string. Its less material in there....most thongs tend to be too wide and therefore not comfy.

  • I think you just get used to it.  That being said, I have worn a thong maybe five times in the last 18 months.  I used to wear one 99% of the time.  When I was 4-6 months pregnant I made the switch to regular panties and since having DD, I think I am sticking with them!

  • It's one of those things you have to deal with...beauty is pain.  I like the lacy ones because they aren't as noticeable when they're up your behind.  I only wear them when necessary though.

  • Make sure you aren't buying them too small. I bought a couple of thongs after I had Bryce, thinking I was still in a medium, and put them on and they were terribly uncomfortble. WhenI bought a large in the same brand, they were really comfortable. Thongs are all I wear.. I love them, lol.
  • I don't like them either, but some woman swear by them and they even have pads now that are shaped to fit in thongs! Yuck. I also remember woman talking about how upset they were that they couldn't wear their thongs after giving birth, another yuck. I rock my panty line.
  • ok ... two things I can only wear Victoria's Secret thongs... The body by Victoria are the best most comfortable... you may need to go a size up in thongs.. you don't want to be digging out "dental floss" all day

my second suggestion is... Invisa line  undies (indivisible line undies) also sold at VS - I wore these with maternity pants - I just couldn't wear thongs while I was pregnant.  These undies hold your tush firmer and create no lines.

    Good luck to you!

  • First of all this post is hilarious. I'm laughing so hard.  :)

& I think they're more comfortable when you wear the pairs that are like this:

Because you get less of a wedgie! LOL.

    They also have these:

so you won't have visible panty lines.   :)

On this note - after this one, I'm done with this post, lol - also don't buy them too big.  Then the waistband doesn't stay in place and there's too much in front and way too much in back...it looks way awkward and feels worse.

  • Even when I was skinny and sexy I never felt comfortable wearing thongs.  I now think they would get so lost in my rolls, I'm afraid to try.  I'll stick with comfy panties and deal with panty lines.

  • I like the Cheeky panties from VS

    https://www.victoriassecret.com/panties/cheekies

It's the perfect compromise between thong and bikini.  I'm wearing some now!  Anyway, they don't ride up and they don't show panty lines.

Haha and THAT is why I dress conservitavely at school.  The upper collar bone is about as much skin as I will show in the chest region and skirts are never above the knee and usually worn with knee high boots.  And if I am wearing tight pants, I have a long shirt on with it.

Whenever I hear the word "commando" I think of the episode of Friends where Joey puts on all of Chandler's clothes (because Chandler stole Joey's chair).  Then Joey says he is not wearing any underwear and proceeds to do lunges.  You NEVER go commando in another man's fatigues, lol!

  • I notice that its about the quality of the thong that makes the big difference.

I love love ON Gossimer, they are kind of expensive but well worth the price.  Some other well made brands are, Victoria Secret (some not all of them) and Hanky Panky

Your not supposed to feel the thong.

  • No matter what underwear I wear it eventually goes up my butt anyways so in high school I converted to the thong and never looked back.  Took a little to get used to, but now it feels like I do not have anything on.

You could always go underwearless if you have a particular outfit that the lines show through and you really can't tolerate the thong.

  • I wear thongs about 90% of the time. I can't find ANY regular underwear that will stay out of my butt and panty lines makes me want to gag. I hate, hate seeing the lines of some random woman in the mall with a "sorta wedgie"...ick!  I don't want anyone gagging at my own as$, so thongs it is. Some are more comfortable than others. I really like Hanky Pankys and I also like these https://www.myskins.com/
