I've been meaning to post about this - I thought this might be helpful. I found some really cute footie PJs, but even though they were only the next size up, they are huge and she walks on the ankle when she wears them. I sewed some elastic up the side on the inseam. I used contrasting thread and backstitched every few inches so it would be easier to remove it (in sections if I need to) as she grows into them. I sewed it on the inseam (1/4 inch wide) so that when I take it out it wont leave little holes in the fleece.
