We went to the San Francisco Shopping Center today to get a picture with Santa. We still don't have holiday cards so we thought that might be a neat idea. So we dressed her up in a cute dress and braved the crazy traffic in downtown San Francisco on a Sunday afternoon in December.
No pictures were taken. She clung to me when she realized she should sit on Santa's lap. Santa was really nice and kind and tickled her and spoke in calming tones, but when I handed her over to him (after several minutes of 'getting acquainted'), she cried hysterically and I took her back instantly. I am so not used to her crying that I just can't deal with it. I am a wimp. But in hindsight, it was pretty funny.
Re: Santa is scary
Awe... poor Sarah!
I hope she's recovered from her Santa trauma. ;-)
I guess I'm lucky that I don't have to worry about this one. lol

You are not a wimp - somehow our kids' crying goes straight to our heart. That's why I think that the dads should be in charge of events like this - lol.
We're thinking that S is going to react that same way. She freaks when ANY stranger tries to touch her, so we're not holding our breath that this will work. Will keep you posted on our "adventure".
None of my girls would sit on Santa's lap before the age of 5. Then it seemed strange to me to be teaching them not to talk to strangers but it's OK to sit on some fat man's lap. I think we may try with Teagan but have one of her sisters hold her.

Santa is scary! I think we're skipping him this year, by the by.
