Trouble TTC

Clomid Question

I have an appointment on Friday to discuss Clomid because a few months ago it appeared I wasn't ovulating and I had almost no progesterone in my system.  We started progesterone suppositories to see if that would help and I did OPKs for two months.  Well both OPKs comfirmed ovulation so I used the supps. Now I am wondering if we will move forward with Clomid if I am ovulating...I thought that was for if you were not ovulating on your own.  Can someone explain how Clomid has been used (to cause/force ovulation or something else?) and what other options they might suggest if I am ovulating on my own?

Re: Clomid Question

  • I ovulate on my own but my RE prescribed me Clomid with an Ovidrel trigger this cycle.  He was just hoping for me to ovulate more than one egg to give myself higher chances of one fertilizing and implanting.  But I ended up only getting one egg anyways.

Maybe not the answer you were looking for.  Good luck:)

  • I ovulate on my own as well.  With clomid I was able to have more than one mature follicle, which could increase chances of conceiving.

  • In addition to possibly releasing more than one mature follicle, my RE says it also helps give a "stronger" ovulation, which is kind of a vague term, but it should better coordinate your hormones, so it should still help if you O on your own but have some mild ovulatory dysfunction.
    IUIs #1-3 (1x unmedicated, 2x Clomid) = 2 BFNs, 1 m/c at 7w3d
    IUIs #4-6 (injects) = 3 BFNs
    IVF #1 = BFN
    FET #1 = BFN
    FET #2 = BFN
IVF #2 = BFP, b/g twins lost at 20w due to partial abruption/PPROM
    IVF #3 = c/p 5w2d
Long-shot Clomid/Prednisone cycle before next IVF = BFP, our beautiful, healthy girl born 6/26/13!

  • I also O on my own but it can happen from CD 17 to CD 30. The RE has me taking clomid to help make it happen faster.
