  • Ha ha ha... I hear you.  Usually M goes to bed around 8, lately it's been 10:30-11, and that's after hours of us trying to get her to sleep.  She's SO tired too, wants to go to sleep, but the second we put her down (eyes closed, supposedly unconscious) she's wide awake, kickin' and talking to us.

Is Will teething at all?  We're pretty sure M is, we can feel/see about 3 of 'em working their way in.  Orajel has been our friend the last couple days, poor kid.

  • Do you try bath time right before bed? And then low stimulation such as low light and rocking or soft music. We do that with Robbie and he is usually always alseep by 8 or 9pm and he sleeps till about 3 or 4am then again till about 7am.

  • We've had a pretty consistent bedtime routine for the last few months, but he does what it sounds like Mikayla is doing to Deb. He's drowsy, he's tired, he falls asleep when we read him his book, then we lay him down, and BAM. Wide awake and screaming. Lately he's finally been going to sleep around 10:30 or 11, and then waking up at 1, and again at 3.

I'm sure it will pass soon, and hopefully he'll go back to being a good little sleeper...but holy crap I'm tired. I don't even remember riding my bike in this morning.

  • We too are hitting the 4 month awake and wanting to play mode.  Its not really at night, but more in the morning.  This morning she was WIDE awake and squealing, laughing, giggling, and talking to herself in her crib at 5....when she normally sleeps till around 7:45.  Daddy got to have Starbucks this morning as his treat for being awake with her so early.  hehe
  • Oh how I remember that 4 month wakeful period!  It was last thanksgiving for us.

She learned that bad habit of being sound asleep until we laid her down.... then like you all describe, she'd wake right up and we'd have to do it all over again.  My trick that worked EVERYTIME, was to put a hot water bottle in her basinette right where she would lay, covered with a blanket.  Then when I went to lay her down, I'd remove the water bottle and where I would lay her would be all toasty warm.  The transistion from my arms to her bed was seemless then.   :)

That was the only thing that worked to get her to stay asleep when putting her down.
