Don't want to share the attention....

Okay! I am checking to see if I am being majorly bitchy on this. I have waited 6 years to get pregnant, husband was in school and I wanted a larger home than 500 sq feet. I waited and planned. My husband's cousin who has basically excommunicated herself from the family just moved back after living overseas and is pregnant and due in the same month as I am. Plus, she made an announcement before me. We are waiting a one more month to tell since I will hit 3 months and my husband's brother just had a baby with his girlfriend this week. We wanted them to enjoy the spot light for awhile. I am sooo frustrated with his cousin, maybe if it was some I cared for I wouldn't be so upset.

  • Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Smile

Probably not what you want to hear, but pregnancies and babies are exciting and thankfully one pregnancy can't really steal the spotlight from another (well, unless she's having quadruplets Stick out tongue).

I do understand where you're coming from - when I was engaged, a cousin of mine also got engaged. I was the "good" one, she was the one who had previously tricked a guy into getting her pregnant and marrying her at 17 (not hearsay, she proudly admitted it), so I was a bit annoyed that "my" time was being stolen by her. But then I realized it's really not that big of a deal - our weddings were totally different and mine wasn't any less special (or, dare I say, better Devil) than hers.

It's a little harder when you're pregnant because everything is so emotionally charged, but step back, take a deep breath and tell her congratulations. Then when all the fuss has died down in another month (which is when you were planning on announcing, right?), shout it from the rooftops and sit back and bask in the glow of your own congrats. Big Smile

  • Actually, by the time you make your announcement, everyone will be all over hers (since it will then be old news) and I'm sure all the attention will then be on you guys =) so I think there's actually an advantage to making the announcement later than hers!

I was thinking the same thing!
