Parenting after 35

temper tantrums and footie pajamas

First, when do tantrums start? M is starting to do the whiny cry/roll around on the floor/bump her head on the floor when she's frustrated or mad. I didn't realize this kind of thing could start this early! Luckily it's not too often and doesn't go too far, but geez, is this a glimpse into my future?!

And second, where did all the footie pajamas go for 12 month olds? I went to Carter's to get her new pjs yesterday b/c the 9 month ones were pinching her toes, and in the 12 month size, there weren't nearly as many as for littler kids! Any other ideas on where to get them? I want her toes to stay warm in our chilly apt. :)

  • I know what you mean - footed pjs are tough to find. I've bought several pairs at thrift stores, Costco and Amazon.

Good luck with the temper tantrums.

  • The tantrums for us started about two months ago. I just ignore them usually and she stops.

They have a ton of footed pjs sleepers for 12 plus mos at Macy's, Kohls etc. They are all the zipper kind.

  • Yep, the mini-tantrums start right about now :)

Target usually has lots of footie pjs, too.  They go all the way up to 5t, I think.

  • funny you should ask, I just asked my pedi about this very same thing on Friday, she said they usually start at about 15 months all the way to 24months.  I'm suffering from this now too. (sigh)

  • Carters only makes the snap ones up to 9 month size.  You need to go to the "big kid" section to get the zip-up footie pajamas (they DO have them, I just bought several in 18 month size).  I got them at the Carter's store.

As for tantrums... Aaron started having them around 12 months. Not fun. But I know they're here to stay for a while (as my nephews still have them, even at ages 5 and 7).

  • I see someone already said Target for footie jammies.  That's where we got them for Miller.  He has some hand-me-down 12 month jammies that are a little bit short, so we bought some 18 month and they are huge on him!

Tantrums are starting around here too...Boo....

  • I buy the footie pjs on eBay. Most of them are Carter, we like the fleece ones as Sarah likes it warm, even with the fleece sleep sack over it.

Luckily we don't really have tantrums, but I know they can start shortly before 12 months and stay until 4 or  5.

  • Children's Place has footie pjs (fleece or cotton) into 2T or 3T.  Word of warning is that their sizing runs smaller than Carter's.  So a 12mo Carters might be more like an 18mo CP.  The sales folks know there so just ask.  DS is so big that I already have him in two piece (plus 1 piece with him is a HUGE pain) and just got thick cotton socks from Target to wear with the pjs.  Seems to work just great!
