I've been feeling crampy for the past week, and yesterday I began having "timable" cramps. I tracked them for about two hours, and they were 2-4 minutes apart. They were not too painful, but I still decided to go in to the emergency room and get checked.
I was hooked up to the monitor for a good hour and sure enough, I've been having contractions every 2-4 minutes. (I had doubts if they were contractions and was hesitant to go in, but I was told that's what it was). I was checked for dilation and I was still at 3cm, just like I was at my previous appointment on Wednesday. They told me to walk the hallways and checked me again in 2hrs, with no progress. I was sent home and was told to come back if the contractions get very painful or if my water breaks.
24hrs later, I'm still having contractions every few minutes and they are still not too painful, just uncomfortable. I feel like a loser for even going in to the ER because they made me go back home. I just don't know how much more of this I can take.... I'm just too uncomfortable, and want to go into labor or at least for the contractions to stop and get a good night sleep. I'm tired of being pregnant. I know I'm not 40wks yet, but I just don't think I can do this anymore ![]()
Sorry for whining...
Re: Vent: Contractions 2-4mins apart - sent home
I ended up going to L&D thinking that I was leaking fluid. I was 38 wks. I ended up having a UTI instead. I was glad that it was checked out but no fluid. of course I ended up going into labor 2 days later. I had 3 contractions befoer going to work and MH thought I should stay home, I waved him off and headed to work. I was not about to go in for nothing. By the time I did get there I was at 6cm and 1.5 mins appt. almost didn't get my epi.
Hang in there. walk around the house. eat something spicy. it will happen.

****EVERYONE WELCOME****
I'm sorry - that sucks! I am trying to time some cramping/contractions now, but they seem to be pretty far apart and not on a perfect schedule - so I'm probably not in labor...but I can KINDA relate to how you feel.
I hope your baby decides to come soon so you can be out of pain soon enough! Good luck!
I feel for you. These final days can be trying.
I'm on alert each time I get a contraction... wondering if they're going to turn into true labor contractions.
Hope you can get some sleep, tonight.
You did the right thing by going in though -- usually they say to go in when you have contractions 5 minutes apart. I remember talking to my midwife on the phone when I was in labor with my DS. I was having contractions every 2 minutes, but since I could talk through them, she told me to go back to bed. Luckily I didn't, because DS was born about 2 hours later, and almost born in the car!
3 cm is nothing to sneeze at - it sounds like you're well on your way!
