Current DD is a Kaylee...her middle name is Marie...while Kaylee doesn't grow well either, Kay, Lee and Marie all make suitable adult nicknames. And her name screams I was born around 2010!
Most likely if we were to go with a Lynn name we'd use a NN to start (Cait/Kate for Caitlyn/Caitlin)

I'm confused why if you've realized your DD#1's name doesn't age well, and may have to resort to another name when she becomes an adult, would you do that to your next child? Just my opinion...
There are a lot of traditional names that have lynn in them. PP's have great suggestions.

She very well may go by Kaylee when she's older. While we may say a name may or may not age well, she's going to be growing up with other kids named Riley (#17 girl name), Brayden (#26 boys name) and Aurora (#42 girls name). There will be thousands and thousands of kids with names that currently we would say won't age well.
While she may decide to shorten her name, it's not uncommon: Christophers that go by Chris, Catherines that go by Cate. So what is the matter if my Kaylee decides she'd like to go by Kay? My brother is Robert, went by Robbie until he got to high school and now goes by Rob.
I don't feel that giving my child a name that they may decide to give themself a nickname later in life is a bad thing. I could have picked a worse name than Kaylee for DD 1. She's a Kaylee completely and wouldn't change her name at all.
Or Linnet, which in addition to being a "bird" name, is the name of a rather self-sufficient and adventurous Arthurian lady.(and, to tie in with your older child's name, the story in question was the(loose) basis for the movie "Quest for Camelot"--in which the heroine's name was changed to Kayley)
Re: Lin/Lyn
If you HAD to make me choose one, it would be Caitlin (but only spelled like this. No Katelynn, etc.)
Smooshing names together, most often with 'Lynn', is verrrry trendy right now, and just screams "I was born around 2010!".
It doesn't grow well either, IMO.
I know it's trendy, but I always kind of liked Ashlynn.
Brooklyn is also a legit name but again really popular.
Evelyn
Jacklyn (I know a girl with this name. Spelling is different, but not weird either. She's als 23 so her parents didn't jump on the Lynn trend.)
Gwendolyn
Lynn or Lynne
Caroline/Carolyn
Coraline
None of that made up Brae-lynn kre-8've garbage.

This is my name, spelling and all
What about Lynnette?

or Linnea.
To the mom of Kaylee, I think Aurora is a fine, classic name and would never lump it in with Brayden et al.

Here's one of the past LYN/LYNN thread.
