sedan drivers/britax owners please come in

Which britax do you own and what kind of car do you drive?  did you use it rear facing, and if so, was the front seat useable?  Any other thoughts?

My DH's car is an audi and he's really wanting to turn the seat to FF when we upgrade soon and I am really pushing for rear facing until 2, but he's concerned about getting it in and out and space.

TIA!

Re: sedan drivers/britax owners please come in

  • When we had our Britax Boulevard rear facing in my 4-door sedan the front seat had to be pushed all the way up. DH couldn't sit in the passenger side so he would drive and I was a little scrunched up. We bought an SUV because of this.

  • I have a Boulevard and a Mazda 3 (tiny tiny). Rear facing you couldn't really move either of the front seats.

  • We had our britax marathon RF in my passat and now my volvo wagon. It is fine in the middle. We are both tall and able to have our seats back as far as we need them. I would not have been able to RF behind the driver's seat, but could do it on the passenger side if it's up quite a ways. It's the same with the volvo.

check out carseatdata.org to see if there are reviews on use of your seat with that car.

  • We have a corolla and my DD is still RF but her seat is in the middle , so I think we will be OK with her FF with her in the back, as long as she is in the middle.
  • We have a Marathon RF in a Saturn Ion, but it's in the middle.  The front seats would not be useable if it was on one side.  The hope is that by the time it's time for #2, DD will be two and we can turn her FF.
  • When we had DD#1, we had a Britax Marathon rf-ing in the middle seat of a 2dr Honda Civic HATCHBACK!!!!  Smallest car ever LOL.

    But, it fit :-)

  • DH has a Camry and our Britax Boulevard is RFing in it.  There is no problem with space.

  • We have a Mazda 3 and a Britax Roundabout, rear facing in the middle. It actually gives us more leg room than we had when DS was in the infant car seat. Any other Britax would be too big rear facing for us because we have a small car and both are tall.
  • We have Britax Blvd in our Camry.  The seat is behind the drivers seat.  Both DH and I fit fine while driving.  DS has never been RF in the Camry since we bought it this past May.
